Move to Halifax Ireland
[edit]I just move the page to this location (Halifax Ireland) since the consumer banking has now been rebranded as Halifax. I realise Bank of Scotland is still the registered name of the company, but that is meant to be ignored unless it is what it is most commonly known as (WP:NC). However, I'm also aware they've retained the BoS brand for industrial/commercial. The reason I proceeded with the move is because, WP:NC are to use the most common name that doesn't conflict with other things. So I am quite certain that the consumer brand is what will be more recognised (companies can't use Wikipedia - their employees can, but they're consumers). Anyone disagree with my reasoning? Also, anyone think it might be better to split the two? - Рэдхот(t • c • e) 18:45, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- I think it's jumping the gun. The bank isn't commonly referred to at all at all by the public in Ireland yet, in fact it's most likely only referred to by the business world and so Bank of Scotland (Ireland) is probably still more common. However, as common usage is not obvious at this point, I would seriously recommend moving to the registered name. zoney ♣ talk 14:39, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- I am condisdering putting in a WP:RM to move the article back there is no evidence that the new name is the most common. --Barryob Vigeur de dessus 20:50, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- It would actually be more correct to split off into separate pages for Bank of Scotland (Ireland) and Halifax (Irish bank), as the two are distinctly different businesses. 193.95.165.190 14:19, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
