Article needs general expansion, especially mention of Persian settlement
[edit]See this article for all sorts of important detail prior to Portuguese missing here -- especially the general "Shirazi" native population being of mixed black-Persian stock:

Also update the woefully glossed-over history section in the Zanzibar Island article.
General Arab Upper Class
[edit]Just reading through quickly -- but don't see the social situation clearly described in which for hundreds of years (from circa 1500AD?) there was an Arab upper class and black lower class -- not just rule by an Arab monarch.
The genocide against the Arab population is then better understood as a Marxist revolution in which the entire upper class is slaughtered.
"Prehistory" section title
[edit]I have seen many complaints on Wikipedia discussion pages for other countries where this word "prehistory" is used as a section title, and if I remember correctly the debates about whether or not it is acceptable to use this word mostly end up coming down against using "prehistory," so in keeping with what seems to be the general trend for Wikipedia, I suggest this word be changed to something like "Early history" -- which guards against someone complaining that the use of "Prehistory" is offensive by opening the possibility of leaving an impression on the reader that history that occurred before the last few centuries in sub-Saharan African regions (that is, the complainer's argument would go, before the European colonizers arrived on the continent) does not qualify as history proper, but is relegated to this lesser category of "prehistory." If the complainer is particularly strident, he or she will throw a sprinkling of accusations of orientalism, eurocentrism, racism, etc. So to avoid getting tangled in such a debate, and to maintain consistency with other similar Wikipedia pages, I suggest someone change the title from "prehistory" to something like "Early history." If no-one within a week or so either makes my suggested change or leaves a comment or comments explaining why the word "prehistory" should be kept, then I will go ahead and make the change in about two weeks from now. Sorry if this message seems very pedantic! (Though I should say that I know many people will not find it pedantic and that for many people this issue is -- rightly, in my view -- an important and sensitive one that should be addressed, or at least discussed and debated by the WIkipedia community.)99.88.145.87 (talk) 16:51, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
"Iranian indian" influences
[edit]Arab rule of Zanzibar has nothing to do with the Indians and the Iranians. The presenter's name can be changed because the Iranians have not entered the island. As for the Indians, they were only have a trade Sarazxs123 (talk) 18:17, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
