An explanation of my edit
[edit]To explain to Sayurasem: yes, I did, it's called a WP:Bold action, specifically blank-and-redirect. The next step for me, having been reverted, is to discuss on this talk page per WP:BRD. Cremastra (u — c) 20:44, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not necessarily opposed to the deletion of this page but I think you've got to provide some reasoning here on the talk page. DervotNum4 (talk) 17:45, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry, I did provide a reason in my edit summary which I should have reproduced here:
this title is effectively a synonym of List of islands of Indonesia, and the topics in this article are already satisfactoraly [sic] covered in other articles. In any case this is very, very similar in scope to Malay Archipelago.
All the sections except Etymology have "main article" tags. Those by themselves are not a reason to redirect the page, but overall this seems to me like a concept cobbled together with a vague scope. What exactly is being discussed here that couldn't be covered at Maritime Southeast Asia, which is basically this plus the Philippines? Cremastra (u — c) 20:42, 17 January 2025 (UTC)- Hi cremestra! Malay Archipelago has a wider scope than indo, encompassing not only the Philippines but also Malaysia, Singapore, Timor Leste and Papua New Guinea. I was among those who opposed deleting this page Emmaloiseingrid (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 21:17, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- You're right. But if this is purely the islands of Indonesia, how then is this different from Indonesia or List of islands of Indonesia? The topics are well-covered at those articles. Cremastra (u — c) 21:20, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- Indonesian archipelago usually provides an overview of the indo archipelago, including geography, natural conditions, history, dmeography, etc. Meanwhile, the article List of islands of Indonesia focuses more on the list of island names. - Indonesian geography etc. are correctly discussed at Indonesia and spin-off articles like Geography of Indonesia, just as, say, Philippine geography etc. are correctly discussed Philippines and spin-off articles like Geography of the Philippines.

- Also, a tip: you can sign your comments with exactly four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will add a time stamp in addition to your username, like this: 01:18, 18 January 2025 (UTC). The software relies on the timestamp for its reply function, and it also helps keep track of discussions. Thanks, Cremastra (u — c) 01:18, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
- I don't really see how this article's scope differs from that of Geography of Indonesia. The maps used on the page seem to indicate that the archipelego is just Indonesia's territory. DervotNum4 (talk) 06:14, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'd further argue that the page inb its current state seems to just be another version of the Indonesia page, what with its seperate History and Demographics sections. DervotNum4 (talk) 17:02, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
