Authorities
[edit]Template {{Authority control}} data on this page should be for Inez and Charlie Foxx jointly. That for Inez Foxx and Charlie Foxx separately does not belong here (eventually on their redirect pages, probably). So I added the joint and deleted the individual data:
WorldCat and LC evidently catalog the Foxxes only individually. Theirs may be useful External links provided outside the AC template, perhaps thus for Inez Foxx:
- Works by or about Inez Foxx in libraries (WorldCat catalog)
- Inez Foxx at Library of Congress, with 6 library catalog records

and same for Charlie
- Works by or about Charlie Foxx in libraries (WorldCat catalog)
- Charlie Foxx at Library of Congress, with 4 library catalog records
-P64 2015-04-28
- I added templates {{Authority control}} to the personal redirects Inez Foxx and Charlie Foxx. --P64 (talk) 20:19, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
Charlie as Chuck Johnston & the Jaycees
[edit]Charlie Foxx at LC Authorities ([1], as above) notes citing Sweet Soul Music [what?]: "Charlie Foxx; recorded a single in 1959 as Chuck Johnston & the Jaycees".

Birth years
[edit]Primary sources including US censuses and birth indexes, indicate beyond any reasonable doubt that Charlie James Fox [sic] was born in 1933 not 1939, and that Inez Rebecca Fox was born in 1937 not 1942. She married Operaul Buddy Johnston in Guilford, North Carolina, in 1955 - hence, the name Inez Johnston on early recordings. These are matters of public record, but are primary sources that ideally should not be used (or, at least, given undue weight) in our article. They are also independently supported by the text at Charlie's Findagrave entry. Charlie's gravestone (as Charlie J. Fox) also gives his birth year as 1933. However, we need to be cautious in using them in our article as they are less than ideal sources, and it's proving hard to find reliable published information that confirms these details. Some further digging (not original research by editors of course...) is required. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:59, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
- You know that I care not for Wikipedia's anti-OR policies. I'm happy to change them to what the records say, with a note attached clarifying. Recorded evidence > amateur journalistic reporting. --Jkaharper (talk) 16:00, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- I changed the birth date for Charlie as there is a published obituary giving his age as 64, but in the case of Inez, when published obituaries explicitly state an age, it's difficult to argue here against using that, even when we "know" that it's wrong. Do you want to edit this article, with a suitable footnote? (Incidentally, there is a similar issue at Mick Rock - virtually all published sources say that he was born in 1948, though in fact he was born in 1944. I'm sure that many other cases of "wrong" ages exist elsewhere here.) Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:36, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
- Jkaharper - Inez's nephew Charles Cochran has changed his Facebook page here to give the 1937 birth date, which I'm sure is correct - but it conflicts with published sources. (They, or someone else, has tried to change it here, but stylistically and in terms of format it was all wrong, so I reverted it.) Do you think we should change the birth year in the lead here, or retain the 1942 year with a footnote explaining that it's wrong? Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:46, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Let's just change it to what's accurate. You and I are the only ones in this conversation. If any other user takes issue with it further down the line then we'll deal with that then. --Jkaharper (talk) 15:53, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- OK. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether her age on the "Recent deaths" page needs to be corrected, given that the published source gives her age as 79 (not 84). Ghmyrtle (talk) 15:57, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
