Date of Birth
[edit]There seems to be a disparity among some of the references cited. The year of birth is either 1924 or 1930. Can someone answer this definitively? Deceglie (talk) 17:49, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Reliable sources, such as (http://movies.nytimes.com/person/97831/James-Komack/biography) give his birthday as 1930. Questionable, user-entered sources such as IMDb give his birthdate as 1924. Wikipedia goes with reliable sources, so I changed his birthdate to 1924 and cited the source. Primogen (talk) 00:17, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
Wikipedia uses "reliable" sources. Oh, that IS funny. Thanks for the laugh. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jango Davis (talk • contribs) 13:11, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
Evanier also claims a 1924 birth date, and the same article from his blog is also used as documentation against the rumor Komack was fathered by Milton Berle. If Evanier is a good enough source to shoot down the rumor of Komack's paternity it should then also be sufficient enough to note in the profile that there is a discrepancy in Komack's reported date of birth with Wikipedia getting it's editorial panties in a twist over it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jango Davis (talk • contribs) 12:32, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

I forgot to note - the material that I inserted to start the article was demerged from the Admiral Komack article. -- Beardo 11:45, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
James Komack served in WWII with my father. They were Army Aircorps buddies in Boulder CO. I just came across an exchange of letters in my father's collection. Based on this, I would have to say that James Komack was clearly born in 1924 rather than 1930. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.15.73.11 (talk) 17:09, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, relying on your father's letters would be original research. Wikipedia goes with reliable sources such as the New York Times, which gives his birthday as 1930. Primogen (talk) 00:17, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
Milton Berle
[edit]Mark Evanier, who worked for Komack, thinks it highly unlikely that Komack was the illegitimate son of Milton Berle. See his blog post: http://www.newsfromme.com/archives/2010_12_26.html#019978 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.64.101.195 (talk) 02:15, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
Mark Evanier also claims Komack was born in 1924. So, if Wikipedia is removing any reference to Komack's alleged paternity by Milton Berle based on Evanier's blog posting http://www.newsfromme.com/?s=james+komack how can the editor's also dismiss his claim of a 1924 birth date claim for Komack. The Wikipedia editors can't have it both ways. If you accept Evanier's claim Berle's paternity of Komack is unlikely, then you must also accept his claim of a 1924 birth date. Once again, Wikipedia's lack of a cohesive structure of an editorial hierarchy results in such sloppy discrepancies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jango Davis (talk • contribs) 12:26, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
