Marape vs. Marabe
[edit]I think his last name is spelled "Marape" rather than "Marabe" - this is the spelling we received at my work from our contact in the PNG Department of Education. "Marabe" gets more Google hits (561) than "Marape" (305), but on closer inspection a lot of the "Marabe" hits are from sites quoting this Wiki article. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs PNG cabinet list calls him "Marape" (note that they don't have him as Education Minister, their list was last updated November 08, and he was appointed Feb 09). The PNG Electoral Commission website lists him as "Marape" in their 2007 General Election Summary Results.
Does anyone have any objections to my renaming this page "James Marape"? Dracunculus (talk) 23:46, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
...found him in the [Official Correspondence Guide] as "Minister for Education / Hon. James Marape, MP". Going to move the page, since nobody has objected to the idea in the past 3 years :D Dracunculus (talk) 18:29, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

Photo
[edit]Given that this is the new PM of a country, shouldn't there be a better quality and more recent photo to feature on this page? Will try and find if it is appropriate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tedfitzy (talk • contribs) 22:25, 30 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Tedfitzy: if you can find a freely-licensed photo that is better than the current one then please upload it to Commons and add it to the article. Thryduulf (talk) 00:12, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Tedfitzy: And good luck to you! The current one is the best I could find - I hoped Australia's Foreign Affairs Department might have a better one, but this one is copyrighted. Neegzistuoja (talk) 05:31, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
- It is not just the quality of the photo. It's the appearance of Mike Honda (on the left), an American politician and educator, who has nothing to do whatsoever with Marape's election or his personality or political career. If there are no other photos of Mr. Marape, how about cropping this photo so that Mike Honda does not appear at all. werldwayd (talk) 17:08, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Werldwayd: good idea. Just cropped it myself. Hopefully another, better image surfaces soon. If not, I think we shall have to be content with the present state of things.
