Interesting article, but there is so much more to this great man than you have included. Are you still updating things? K R — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.38.254.14 (talk • contribs) 01:23, 31 January 2007
Mormonism and Freemasonry
[edit]I have on several occasions been presented with allegations that more or less all of the men who were central in the inception of Mormonism in the time og Joseph Smith were freemasons. I have so far not seen any credible source documenting this connections though. Until maybe now, but then again, maybe not. In hour 3 of "Interview with an Ex-Vampire" (former Mormon, freemason, Wiccan High Priest, Satanist and more, Bill Schnoebelen), the following screen is shown:
- Many of the Saints were Masons. such as Joseph's brother Hyrum, Heber C. Kimball, Elijah Fordham, Newel K. Whitney, James Adams, and John C. Bennett.
- With the acquiescence of the Prophet, members of the Church already Masons petitioned the Grand Master of Illinois for permission to set up a lodge in Nauvoo. It was March 15, 1842, before authority was given to set up a lodge in Nauvoo and to induct new members.

Having found an online version of the above title, I have looked for this text to compare, however it is not there. Does that unequivocally indicate that the above quotation is a forgery? Could this text have been edited out of the online version of the book? __meco 13:37, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
