Preferred pronunciation of name?
[edit]How did Durocher pronounce his name? The French way (roughly "Due row SHEA")? Some "Americanized" way ("DUE Row sure"/"Due ROW sure"/"DUE Roacher"/"Due ROACHer")? (All caps = primary stress; first letter capitalized = secondary stress.)
I've been wondering about this for a while... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.169.149.207 (talk) 17:15, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
- He pronounced it "duh ROW sure". He tended to talk fairly fast, so it came out like "d'ROW'sh'r". ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 17:24, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
- When he appeared on The Beverly Hillbillies, the Clampetts deliberately mispronounced it as "DOO-row-sure", to be funny. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 18:18, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
