Episode Merge
[edit]Why where all the episodes merged together onto this page? I felt it was better beforehand with each episode having its own article. I think he reason they each had their own artcile in the first place was becuase the "plot" section on FLCL was so short, and was expended apon in each episode. So why the change? If this is how it will be from now on then additions must be made to the "plot section" on the main FLCL page. Either that, or revert it to each episode having its own page. Also you seem to have completley deleted the "trivia" section under each episodes articles. If this is to remain like this, maybe that section should be added to this page, or the main FLCL page(or just revert everything back to the way it was before?) - Prede (talk) 03:26, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Because none of the episode articles were individually notable; ergo, they failed to show any independent, reliable, verifiable sources that demonstrated real-world impact (i.e. critical commentary, sales, etc.). Also, trivia sections are highly discouraged in articles per WP:TRIVIA, and the items should either be incorporated into the article's prose or simply not included at all. The current format is better, and should be maintained, unless you can find such sources to demonstrate notability for the individual episode articles, in which case this article would simply link to them. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 05:18, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- The individual episode pages were 90% plot and IIRC not one was referenced. The trivia sections are nice to read but as mentioned above, are discourage and may have had borderline OR. On their own they might have had trouble surviving an AFD debate, however collectively here, they now have a shot at becoming FL. BrokenSphereMsg me 04:14, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Quick absurd question... What is the point of being FL if it doesn't say anything meaningful? --69.54.129.168 (talk) 19:52, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- How is the current list not meaningful for you? --BrokenSphereMsg me 05:38, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

And where, may I ask, is the discussion where this merge decision was made? Zurqoxn (talk) 07:05, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Here. Project-level consensus is sufficient for our purposes. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 07:09, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- I came to this page specifically to look up some of the obscure Japanese pop culture references in this series, only to find that they're not mentioned any more. Where else can I go to find this out, with links to take me directly to a page on whatever is being referenced? Zurqoxn (talk) 07:24, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
The problem with merges is that in most cases the original article had more content and details than the merged article, and that is why some persons dislike them. I think this is also the case for this merge. I certainly can't tell exactly how much information may have been lost, but I remember there was a small image for each episode and the trivia sections may have contained valuable or enlightening information, specially for non-japonese people... to sum it all up, I think the resulting list is not as rich as the original articles. So, can't something be done to recover that former richness? -- LeAd DiAg (talk) 06:20, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with the user above. If the merge isn't going to be reveresed (which I want to happen) then some of the lost content should be brought back. ALSO the trivia section should be brought back as well, only not added as trivia, but places into certain appropriate areas of this article, and the main FLCL article respectively. You can look at the older articles by going to this link http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Marquis_de_Carabas_%28FLCL%29&diff=185319967&oldid=183584512 . That is only the link for the second episode. Sorry I don't have the other links, but you can find their "older" articles on here as well. - Prede (talk) 04:10, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- I suggest that you read the discussion linked to above on the WP:Anime & Manga talk page re. why these episodes were all merged in the first place. The former version of Marquis de Carabas illustrates exactly why all 6 episodes couldn't exist on their own, which SephirothBCR and I mention above. As for trivia/cultural references, whatever you call it - that's just what it is, and practically all of it is OR and unreferenced, both of which are discouraged here. It may be informative for fans of the series, but can't otherwise be justified in being kept. If you're thinking of setting up more detailed entries for the series that may not be suitable for Wikipedia, I suggest taking a look at setting up a parallel FLCL Wiki at Wikia if you think it would be worth the time and effort. BrokenSphereMsg me 04:36, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- I feel that this list should be merged into the FLCL article, as this list isn't much shorter than that article. - A Link to the Past (talk) 14:01, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Issues with sourcing, FLRC soon
[edit]It needs another source for the English airdates as the current source is no longer useful. Being FL means all information must be reliably source as they are the best in Wikipedia. I plan on submitting this to FLRC soon. DragonZero (Talk · Contribs) 02:09, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
