Mukhtaraqah / Al Muhtarqah
[edit]Some modifications have been made to try to reconcile the page layout with the Mukhtaraqah article.
Please note that since the "official" reference source is the National Atlas of the United Arab Emirates (in both its English and Arabic versions), the following place names should preferably follow those published in that source:
Tawiyean**:** Romanized version in the Atlas: Aţ Ţawyēn; Arabic version in the Atlas: الطويين.
As for Al Muhtarqah, I believe we agree on retaining the name in that spelling (which, coincidentally, also coincides with the one Lorimer used in the first known written document mentioning the village).
However, there is a discrepancy in the Arabic name:
The sources used (newspaper article, video, traffic sign, ...even Google Maps) opt for the form: المحترقة, and I think that is the one we should follow.
However, other variants also appear, namely: ٱلْمُحْتَرْقَة ٱلْمِحْتَرْقَة, which are not incorrect but are not the ones used by the cited sources.
To make matters worse, the Atlas uses the form المحترقه , so we would have four small variants of the name in Arabic.
I don't think it's appropriate to focus this article on a linguistic issue, which is why I think we should simplify it and not highlight the paragraph on toponymy by moving it to the beginning of the article.
I think it's more appropriate to leave it for after the description and characteristics of the place, and in this case add a second line of alternative names in Arabic.
Finally, so as not to distract the reader from the main content of the article, I think the "See also" options (Geography/History/Demographics) should go at the end, along with other similar options. LukasSimeone (talk) 14:59, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
