Problematic statement about the Temple and its status as Shakti Peetha according to certain Hindu texts
[edit]Hi,
I removed the following statement from the article :
« The temple's fame is accredited to Adi Shankaracharya, a 9th-century Hindu philosopher, for identifying it as one of the prominent 64 Shakti Peethams in Shakti Peetha Stotram » °
Due to a check of the cited text (Shankara's Shakti Peetha Stotram, also known as Ashta Dasha Shakti Peetha Stotram, which is available online), I noticed that it makes no mention of the Nagapooshani temple or the locality of Nainathivu , or the divinity of Bhuvaneshwari presented here (in the article) as the divinity worshiped in Nainathivu.
The only mention in this hymn which - I find - can lend to making a link with Nainathivu, is that of Lankayam Shankari devi. Regarding this mention , I find that it clearly cannot be presented as 'mention' of the Nagapooshani Amman of Nainathivu. Because Lankayam Shankari devi is already presented by Sri Lankan Tamil recent popular tradition as being the temple of Koneswaram in Trincomalee.
° From what I could find, Adi Shankara did not mention the Shakti Peethas numbering sixty-four, but only eighteen (the Ashtadasha). Drusekoana (talk) 19:28, 16 September 2023 (UTC)
