Inclusion, in the article, of an extract from the Nexus Document
[edit]The article contains an extract from the Nexus Document. Please note that the Nexus Document Web page features a Creative Commons license of a type that is considered suitable for such use. Misha Wolf (talk) 21:35, 9 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Sennecaster. @Jonathanabujj, who is the copyright holder for the Nexus Document, requested permission for text from that document to be quoted in Wikipedia article Nexus Task Force. See the discussion at Wikipedia:Help desk/Archives/2023 June 6#Waiting to hear back from "permissions-en at wikimedia.org". He was told what changes needed to be made to the copyright statement on the Nexus Document Web page and he made those changes. A notice has been placed by you on this Talk page, which states that the license "is not compatible with Wikipedia's license". I'm puzzled by this. Please could you help me understand what it means. Thanks Misha Wolf (talk) 11:52, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Misha Wolf: Hi! It's part of the template and I cannot make it go away, that hasn't been updated since the ToU update to allow CC-BY-SA 4.0 text. It was meant to warn VRT agents that it (previously) was not a compatible license. I made an edit request to fix this :) Sennecaster (Chat) 16:06, 15 June 2023 (UTC)

Overview and description, including "progressive"
[edit]After removing the statement "The Nexus Project is progressive" (which feels shoehorned in where it is), I realised part of the issue here might be that there isn't an overview section to describe the project itself, only the individual parts of the project. Maybe that's what we need immediately following the lede?
Such a section would then give an overview of the project and its policies, before going into more detail in the sections that follow. That would sensibly be where we would mention things like whether sources have described it as "progressive" or not (although we might need to attribute that if it's not a widely held view — I'm open to seeing the sources on this, as while they look "progressive" to me, I don't know how diverse their leadership/membership is). It might require a shorter lede with more of the upfront detail in that section, though.
Does that work for either of you, @Longhornsg and @Misha Wolf? Lewisguile (talk) 10:09, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Lewisguile, that would be fine with me, though it might be difficult to find sourced material covering the Nexus Project as a whole, because sources often focus on one branch or the other. As a consequence, writing such a section might require synthesis of published material, which is (of course) disallowed. Misha Wolf (talk) 13:59, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- That is, indeed, a concern, but I'm hoping someone who's more knowledgeable than me can point to some good RSes that look at the project as a whole. If no one has any to hand, I'll see if I can find anything myself later.
- There's no rush, either way. I just wanted @Longhornsg to know that I saw what they were trying to do and how I think we might approach it better in future. They might also have some sources that would help in that respect.
