PLS also stands for Public Land Surveyor, used as an acronym after a certified surveyor's name.

It appears the dissanbiguation page for PLS already states that :) And don't forget to sign your posts with four tildas 85.72.141.200 (talk) 13:37, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Specification says the NumberOfEntries is part of the header; the Example shows it at the bottom. Clarity needed. 199.46.198.230 (talk) 19:05, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This page was vandalized by Redditors (proof). I reverted the changes. --129.10.110.45 (talk) 02:15, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This file is interesting enough to exist. It should not be deleted. I used it professionally in connection with testing a car entertainment system. --BIL (talk) 13:31, 14 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Streaming Audio Format??

[edit]

I'm gonna remove the segment calling PLS a "streaming audio format", because I have never seen or heard anything to that regard, the article itself only provides information about PLS as a playlist format, and even the references given in the paragraph separate PLS from the actual audio stream.

To put it bluntly: PLS files are playlist files. They point to the stream, they are not the stream itself.

?? MS Windows Media Player  ??

[edit]

My unmodified (no codec suites, WinAmp, etc.) Win7 Home Premium/WinMedia Player, does not play PLS, says it might not recognize that file type or may need a codec. Jeepers, what's a Media Player supposed to do again? All my PLS fies are useless. I have long felt that MS (and related industry) does not like PLS because it can avoid browsers and related paid ads, etc, and now I notice MS makes a competing playlist format.

Also, I find all the negative comments about the article (delete, and stub) to be unprecidented. Unless I hear otherwise, I intend to delete WinMedia Player from the compatable software list. Same with the stub warning. Cheers!

Changes...

[edit]

I made the Lede section smoother and less jargony.

I also added a "finding/downloading .PLS files" paragraph to the lede because the article gave no clue where PLS files come from, or it seemed to imply that PLS files were normally hand-created. If there are other common sources for the files, perhaps those should be added too.

I also changed the vague, too-technical topic header; "Software" to: Compatable Media Player Software, but simply: "Compatable Media Players" might be even better? Cheers!
