Each post office facility has a postmaster?
[edit]Is the manager of a processing & distribution center also known as a postmaster? 69.140.164.142 05:46, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
No.
Contradiction in summary
[edit]Postmistress is not used anymore in the United States
but then:
"Postmaster," regardless of the person's sex, has always been the official title for this position.
Which is it?

Etymology
[edit]I split off postmaster (occupation), but is there a connection between those who let out horses and riders to the mail center pfficials? FloridaArmy (talk) 17:37, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
Use on the Internet, handling mail at a domain
[edit]If I remember correctly, every domain should have a postmaster mail account (e.g. postmaster@example.com) that handles queries about mail, e.g. failed deliveries. Is this still current? It would be good to mention it in this article as a modern carry-over of the word. Also, is it being affected by the current kerfuffles over race and gender, e.g. traditional "master-slave" terminology being eradicated by tech companies? 2A00:23C5:FE0C:2100:1C67:844C:96EF:CD62 (talk) 02:24, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
