Soutirage

[edit]

I see the page was briefly moved to "Soutirage" and is now back again. Yes, I think "Racking" is the right name in English. Not only in winemaking, on which I can't specially comment (and I know some winemakers like to go French), but also in cider-making. It's the same process, and that's what cider-makers call it. Maybe I should add that to the article? It doesn't currently mention cider. Andrew Dalby 09:20, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why "filtering" and "fining" are added as if they were synonyms. These processes may be done at the same time, but they aren't the same thing. Are they? Andrew Dalby 09:24, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

not sure why this line was in the lede

[edit]

overwhelming numbers of winemakers rack, so not clear why these two would be mentioned: "Several notable winemakers including Jean-Claude Berrouet and Daniel Baron still use the process as they believe it produces a higher quality wine." 96.246.66.102 (talk) 22:45, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
