Slimes in video games also influenced tabletop games such as Dungeons & Dragons

[edit]

Maybe? But green slime in particular has been in D&D since it began in 1974, so it's probably the other way around, although more and more slime creatures were introduced over time so I could see it being reciprocal. BOZ (talk) 07:17, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's worth noting that the attached citation says the opposite, that D&D Slime inspired video game Slimes. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 09:35, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I would expect. :) BOZ (talk) 12:56, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for pointing out this mistake, I must have misread. I’ve fixed it. Di (they-them) (talk) 13:33, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notability issue

[edit]

Not sure this should be separate from Slime (Dragon Quest) or Gelatinous cube. Specifically, if most fantasy anime and video game slimes were based directly on the Gelatinous cube, then it should just be added to that article. Most of the article is content farms or about the substance rather than the creature besides the one Polygon article. What exactly are the WP:THREE sources (besides Polygon) about slimes as a fictional monster? (Speaking of which, Slime (monster) would likely be a better DAB. They are not just in fantasy, as the mention of Lovecraft in this very article proves). ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 22:06, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The WP:THREE best sources would be Polygon, the Marijeta Bradić journal article, and the Literary Hub article (which as far as I can tell is content from the book Slime: A Natural History by Susanne Wedlich). As far as the title, I agree that "monster" is probably a better DAB, and I'll move the page. Di (they-them) (talk) 22:25, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Where does the the Slime: A Natural History excerpt talk about pure slime monsters as a general monster type? It does refer to some specific slime monsters like The Blob, but doesn't appear to link them as part of a general monster group, only as part of the use of slime as a material, prop or gimmick used with monsters that were both made and not made of slime. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 00:27, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Micherry?

[edit]

This word appears nowhere in Wikipedia apart from this article. It isn't in Wiktionary or the Urban Dictionary. A Google search produces social media links.

What does it mean? 88.69.206.177 (talk) 10:21, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I had the same question. Can we either get an explanation/citation, or have this confusing word removed? 96.241.220.187 (talk) 10:26, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
 Already done by someone else. Cheers! Johnson524 10:32, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Protection?

[edit]

Since this is featured on the main page, this article should really have Edit Protection. I can foresee a lot of vandalism coming this way. Realtent (talk) 16:27, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

itll be off main page soon enough Bluethricecreamman (talk) 17:06, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Slime girls

[edit]

If we're talking about trends relating to slime in media, I think we need to talk about slime girls too. It seems like a real oversight.

The monster girl page has a para:

"The Monster Musume character Suu, in addition to other, similar characters from previous works such as Sailor Moon, inspired a further sub-fandom of slime girls, characters based on the Dungeons & Dragons monster of the same name, who are made of gelatinous material, but possess a humanoid female, rather than amorphous appearance."

Which, while it kinda sucks, is better than nothing. Crelb (talk) 13:33, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We'd need a source to include this. Di (they-them) (talk) 19:19, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The monstergirl page uses this: https://www.vice.com/en/article/slime-girls-fetish-porn-monster-musume-suu/ vice article. Crelb (talk) 10:26, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I will check this out later and see what I can add! Di (they-them) (talk) 04:36, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't Puniru is a Cute Slime appear under slime girls and not slimes in general? --147.161.216.117 (talk) 05:29, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, you're right, I completely missed that when I proposed the change. Crelb (talk) 12:59, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
