Me again again. It's been reverted to the incorrect spelling twice. Could I ask @Enredados and @KylieTastic -- who have changed it back to the incorrect spelling -- to please have a look at the two links in my previous post. This isn't vandalism: I know it's a non-standard transliteration of "Dechen," but "Dechan" is honest-to-goodness how Her Highness spells her name. 2600:4040:2B58:3F00:49BA:13C5:21A2:B1A3 (talk) 00:34, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks for the ping. If it was shown that Dechan was the correct common name then the page should be moved not just changed in the text and breaking images - see Wikipedia:Requested moves. When making such key changes please use the edit summary to explain directly or point to the talk page otherwise it just looks like vandalism. As you can see in the page history it was automatically labelled as probably vandalism by the systems. Social media and blogs are not generally reliable sources. However looking at the facebook source the title says "Dechan" but the intro section says "Dechen"! "Google her literally anywhere other than Wikipedia" - I did on google news: I get 4 hits for "Sonam Dechen Wangchuck" and 3 for "Sonam Dechan Wangchuck". In google books I get four pages of results for "Dechen" and only two for "Dechan". Search for "The Raven Tells a Story" and Wangchuck I again find both. I just reverted as no reason was given, I saw both were used and it looked unclear and also the image was broken - my opinion is I don't know - this one is complex. My guess would be that both are used so the totality has to be considered not just look at a couple links, so I'm not sure which is correct for Wikipedia per WP:COMMONNAME. As this page has only been viewed 10 times in the last year this is unlikely to get eyes so I would suggest bring up some place else, maybe Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Biography or Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard. Very good. Thanks very much for putting the effort in. I'm not planning on doing a deep-dive into Wikipedia procedures over this -- I'm just a (grateful) Wikipedia user and fan. This just happened to be one place I saw an error and thought I could help. (I agree the title needs to be changed too, but that's beyond my ken.)
