[edit]Just a note about the mountain. Many people in Stratford and Taranaki still regard it under the name given to it by Captain Cook, which was "Mount Egmont". Or they simply refer to it as "The Mountain".— Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.154.58.194 (talk • contribs) 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Only town in central Taranaki?
[edit]Puzzled by this. Is Eltham too far south to be central? Too small now to be a town? (1000 used to be the lower limit in most cases.) Is it incorporated into one local body with Stratford? (But then, that would be part of a district, wouldn't it? Is a town a local body entity, or are they just smaller-than-city settlements within a district?)
Anyway, what about Eltham? Koro Neil (talk) 14:19, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Eltham belongs to the South Taranaki District, that's why Taranaki is the single town. --lomis (talk) 20:11, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
