[edit]If tantalite comes from all these other countries--including Brazil and Canada, why is it blamed today as a source of war and mass rape in the Congo? Supposedly all these horrors are taking place in the Congo because of the minerals needed for cell phones. Is tantalite really a factor in the war in Congo today or not?152.3.238.124 (talk) 06:20, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, there is and has been serious conflict in the DRotC. Yes Tantalum is a major part of the export economy of the DRotC. So naturally, some of that money is going to fuel the conflict. Does the Coltan in the DRotC represent a major proportion of the worlds Tantalum (Or Niobium) production? No. Not at all. It doesnt need to form a large part of the world market to form a large part of the local economy, especially in a country like DRotC. So dont throw away your cellphone in disgust just yet. People are understandably upset about the conflict there though, and tend to resort to hyperbole. Saktoth (talk) 13:56, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
Chemical formula
[edit]Please check chemical formula (Mg,Fe)(Ta,Nb)2O6 on the right side of the page. It may contain an error. 87.252.227.84 (talk) 12:12, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
