I ask this because the word “meter” is spelled two different ways on here. While I’m not going to advocate for a particular spelling, I would like to ask which version of English we are using in this article that way we can be consistent. If it’s American spelling (eg: center, meter, defense, organize) then it should be American spelling throughout the entire article (save for direct quotes); if it’s British spelling (eg: centre, metre, defence, organise) than it should be British spelling throughout the entire article (again save for direct quotations). But what we have here right now is most certainly NOT consistent. It would appear as if there is a mix of American and British spelling in this article. See MOS:ENGVAR. Usually when it is a non-English speaking country it’s usually whatever variety was used first. I just dug down into the history. It was originally written solely in American English; and I don’t see any clear ties to the Commonwealth. And what is weird is it seems to only affect units of measurement, particularly the meter and related units. Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page!05:00, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
