Suggestion of structure for the section Second term.
[edit]Greetings.
I suggest this structure for this section, which is similar to the one followed for the inter-presidency period.
In the future, these general subjects could be separated in more specific ones.
Misleading tariff calculations
[edit]In light of the recent proposed tariffs, Trump claims that, among others, the EU has a 39% import tariff on US exports. The calculation boils down to the trade deficit over the imports, which does not reflect the actual tariffs EU is applying (https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/api/files/document/print/en/qanda_25_541/QANDA_25_541_EN.pdf, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_tariff_rate) The EU's VAT is non-discriminatory.
The point of this is not that the calculation is wrong, this is, as far as I know, indeed the ratio of trade deficits over imports, but the fact that this is represented in a misleading way as the actual tariffs countries are applying to the US.

Sanewashing section includes irrelevant information
[edit]I'd like to suggest that some of the information from the Sanewashing section be moved to the page about concerns about age-related degeneration. Information like Trump's speech complexity seem irrelevant to this section (though relevant to other pages!). I plan to remove in a few days, but am leaving a comment here first to see if anyone has a good argument for the contrary. Tomcatfish (talk) 03:51, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I would like to request a [[Wikipedia:Move review#{{{1}}}|Move review]] of False or misleading statements by Donald Trump. Many Wikipedia readers (including myself) disagree with the title, as many of the things he said were true or were said jokingly. I would like to propose changing the name to Controversial Statements made by Donald Trump, to avoid controversy. Vanleos (talk) 17:13, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- Immediate oppose. It's very hard to tell when he is joking. And this article's title isn't wrong, technically. 'Controversial' seems like whitewashing it. ☩ (Babysharkboss2) 17:15, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. This is a distinct topic as discussed by independent reliable sources. A false statement made as a joke is still a false statement. If there are true statements asserted to be false in this article, please point those out so they can be addressed. I suggest a SNOW close here, this will not gain consensus. 331dot (talk) 17:37, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. Per the discussion here leading to the article's being moved/renamed in 2023, consensus was that the current title most accurately describes article content. —RCraig09 (talk) 19:25, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. This article used to have the milquetoast fake-neutral name Veracity of statements by Donald Trump, per the discussion pointed to by RCraig09 just above. Now it's called something that covers the content far better. Controversial statements would be wildly irrelevant, as no controversy exists over Trump's bullshit. Compare also this edit. Trim?
[edit]This is long... to say the least. I feel like a bit of cleanup is in order, but I'm not sure which areas to trim. WFUM🔥🌪️ (talk) 18:46, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
- I believe it has previously been discussed to split this up by date somehow; pre-presidency/first term/second term, maybe. 331dot (talk) 19:19, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
- I would support this proposal. I would also support a split-off of all political statements to a separate article, although the classification would be a bit nebulous and may have OR concerns. WFUM🔥🌪️ (talk) 19:49, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
- Trim it or not, I don’t doubt it will still be biased as heck.Bjoh249 (talk) 20:26, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
