Requested move 16 January 2025

[edit]

– The actress, an iconic figure in early Soviet cinema, should be linked directly. The archeologist, whose name is transliterated differently — Elena Efimovna Kuzmina or simply Elena Kuzmina — should be likewise linked directly. A hatnote atop each woman's entry, pointing to the other, would suffice. — Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 23:58, 16 January 2025 (UTC).[reply]

It should be made clear that the nomination is not proposing one of the women as primary over the other. As already stated, each entry would have a hatnote pointing to the other. If consensus prefers retention of a disambiguation page, an alternative proposal would be Yelena Kuzmina (actress)Yelena Kuzmina, paired with dab page move Yelena KuzminaElena Kuzmina, which already redirects to the Yelena Kuzmina dab page. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 20:35, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You are indeed proposing a primary topic. The status quo is that both Yelena Kuzmina and Elena Kuzmina are ambiguous, and both result in the reader reaching a disambiguation page. This should not change.
Per WP:RUS, the disambiguation page should actually be at Elena Kuzmina, with Yelena Kuzmina being the redirect; no objection to this being flip-flopped. 162 etc. (talk) 21:40, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To reiterate, the nomination does not propose a primary topic. There are only two entries, thus there is ultimately no need for a disambiguation page.
The film star's name is known in the English-speaking world under its "Yelena Kuzmina" transliteration. Her entry was created in January 2009 as Yelena Kuzmina.
In August 2010, it was unilaterally moved to Yelena Alexandrovna Kuzmina, coupled with creation of a disambiguation page listing her and the archeologist. In October 2018, her main title header was once again unilaterally moved to Yelena Kuzmina (actress).
Since her stage name never included the patronymic, the patronymic's deletion was appropriate, but addition of the parenthetical qualifier "(actress)" was not needed and the dab page was likewise unnecessary.
Per WP:SMALLDIFFERENCES, each of the two women can be accessed separately. Yelena Kuzmina should flow directly to the film star, with a hatnote pointing to the archeologist.
The main header for the archeologist, Elena Efimovna Kuzmina, should be moved to Elena E. Kuzmina, which was her pen name and her WP:COMMONNAME, with Elena Kuzmina redirecting to her. A hatnote atop the archeologist's entry, For the actress, see Yelena Kuzmina, would suffice. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 22:57, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If Yelena Kuzmina or Elena Kuzmina end up anywhere but the dabpage, then yes, you are making a primary topic. See WP:NOPRIMARY. 162 etc. (talk) 23:21, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
While WP:NOPRIMARY does provide generic guidance along with a generic example, specific non-applicable instances, particularly those dealing with WP:SMALLDIFFERENCES, need to be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
If each of the two entries in question — Yelena Kuzmina and Elena Efimovna Kuzmina/Elena E. Kuzmina/Elena Kuzmina — carries a hatnote pointing to the other, then obviously neither is primary over the other. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 01:05, 18 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
