Fix it
[edit]The homophobe bit seems out of place, someone should fix it up
Criminal behaviour
[edit]How come neither the Wikipedia article on Luzhkov nor the one of Baturina mention their criminal record regarding forced ownership change of flat owners, the ties between him as a political figure and her as a "businesswoman" getting all the jobs and lots of other stuff? This has probably been a giant theft with multiple murders and intimidation attempts (just check out the death rate of flat owners who refused to move when baturina wanted to demolish old buildings in order to build new ones) over the last 15 years. The whole situation appears to be some kind of prototype of greed, unscroupelousness combined with blatant recklessness that MUST be mentioned, in my mind even with a whole new paragraph. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.100.51.218 (talk) 08:57, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Fine, let's do it. Can you provide some sources? We will need some:) Malick78 (talk) 09:41, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Views on gays
[edit]Keep and expand the section explaining his recent attacks on Moscow's gays and lesbians.
- If you are going to have the comments or section they would need citing.--Spartaz 08:08, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- On second thoughts I'll remove the Homophobic references and they can be replaced when you have citations for them. --Spartaz 07:22, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
There should definitely be a bit about his homophobia (calling gays 'satanic'). Also something about his millionaire wife - who surprisingly managed to get dozens of construction contracts from the city - run, er, by her husband. Malick78 17:15, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- I created "Personal views" section, as for now in comments. There are more than his position on gay pride, there are such notable things as his proposal of Northern river reversal project. Garret Beaumain (talk) 16:19, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Civic Monuments & claims to fame
[edit]Should we not have something on this and the MKAD? Also how about the seeding of the clouds around Moscow to keep the weather nice for the 1980 Olympics?--Spartaz 08:08, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- Luzhkov wasn't Moscow mayor in 1980 yet, he has nothing to do with Moscow OlympicsGarret Beaumain 13:51, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Page Move
[edit]Proposing oage move to Yuriy Luzhkov per WP:CYR. Please let me know if you have any problems with this. I'll wait a couple ofdays before going ahead. --Spartaz 07:22, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Merge Wife with Lushkov
[edit]- Strongly oppose. WP:CYR?! She is wealthiest women in Russia.Biophys 02:42, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose. Baturina is a notable bussinessman, keep her article. Garret Beaumain 19:18, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Also oppose - for the above reasons. Baturina is extremely notable in her own right. Perhaps though this discussion should be on her page (the redirect was to here)Malick78 10:09, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- Er guys - the page move took place nearly a year ago. I moved it from Yuri to Yuriy to reflect the accepted transliteration of his name from cyrillic (hence the WP:CYR ref. Spartaz Humbug! 20:04, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Number of mayors
[edit]As for now, he's marked as "2nd" after Gavriil Popov. But there were heads of the city since the very XVII century. He's just second elected. Shall we
- pretend that position is created in 1991, or
- count Imperial governors, or
- count Soviet heads of Moscow City Executive Comitee?

again views on gays
[edit]"The Right of Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Assembly, both granted in the Russian Constitution (Chapter two, Article 29 and 31), and also in the European Convention on Human Rights (CETS 005, Article 10 and 11) was not mentioned by him while banning the Moscow Pride." was deleted earlier from the article.
At least the Rights granted by the Russian Constitution should be mentioned, as a representative of the Russian Federation Yury Luzhkov should consider Constitutial Rights citizens in Russia have. The then city mayor of Warsaw, Lech Kaczyński, banned the gay pride in Warsaw in 2004 and 2005. Poland was later on found guilty by the European Court of Human Rights for violating basic human rights, see also Bączkowski v Poland. Organisators of the Moscow Pride also applied to the European Court of Human Rights. Rownosci (talk) 17:16, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- It is not our busines what he should and what he should not. Wikipedia is only about what happened, what was said, what was done, et cetera. Reader is to decide himself how to interprete facts. --Garret Beaumain (talk) 19:31, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- "Gay activists accuse him of homophobia" and appealed to the European Court of Human Rights, complaining the breach of freedom of assembly. Rownosci (talk) 20:31, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- And that is what is fact. We can mention they appealed to court (although the major information belongs to Moscow Pride article). Not is it wrong or right.Garret Beaumain (talk) 22:03, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
