This article should adhere to the gender identity guideline because it contains material about one or more trans women. Precedence should be given to self-designation as reported in the most up-to-date reliable sources, anywhere in article space, even when it doesn't match what's most common in reliable sources. Any person whose gender might be questioned should be referred to by the pronouns, possessive adjectives, and gendered nouns (for example "man/woman", "waiter/waitress", "chairman/chairwoman") that reflect that person's latest expressed gender self-identification. Some people go by singular they pronouns, which are acceptable for use in articles. This applies in references to any phase of that person's life, unless the subject has indicated a preference otherwise. Former, pre-transition names may only be included if the person was notable while using the name; outside of the main biographical article, such names should only appear once, in a footnote or parentheses. If material violating this guideline is repeatedly inserted, or if there are other related issues, please report the issue to the LGBTQ+ WikiProject, or, in the case of living people, to the BLP noticeboard. |
This article must adhere to the biographies of living persons (BLP) policy, even if it is not a biography, because it contains material about living persons. Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately from the article and its talk page, especially if potentially libellous. If such material is repeatedly inserted, or if you have other concerns, please report the issue to this noticeboard. If you are a subject of this article, or acting on behalf of one, and you need help, please see this help page. |

Birthname

What was Zooey's birthname? I ask because if it is different it has encyclopedic importance for a politician--it allows encyclopedia writers know what name to search for for events before the birthname. Academicskeptic9 (talk) 14:37, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

Naming rep Sue Vinton's response here?
[edit]"When this remark triggered an objection from a Republican lawmaker," should this be edited to say what that remark is and name Sue Vinton for making it? 72.196.233.42 (talk) 12:21, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- If Vinton also has a WP article, she could be named. Given that her floor objection was relatively minor compared to Regier’s behavior and the stuff the Freedom Caucus did, it’s important not to give her actions undue weight. Montanabw(talk) 15:26, 25 April 2023 (UTC) Follow up I added Vinton’s name, linked her article, and noted her status as majority leader. The Washington Post source I added also contains video of the entire interaction. Montanabw(talk) 18:07, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- Given that Vinton is a sitting member of a state legislature, an article could be created if there are editors interested in giving any time to do that. For example, every incumbent member of the California State Legislature with the exception of one has their own article on Wikipedia. Jay Coop · Talk · Contributions 21:13, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- Vinton has an article already. I linked it. Montanabw(talk) 23:30, 26 April 2023 (UTC)

typo
[edit]"Zephyr decided to run for state representative in the 2022 mid-term elections after watching bills pass through the state senate with one-vote margins that they believed were discriminatory against transgender people"
should read "Zephyr decided to run for state representative in the 2022 mid-term elections after watching bills pass through the state senate with one-vote margins that she believed were discriminatory against transgender people 130.180.88.101 (talk) 22:11, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- That whole sentence was kind of awkward, I did a rephrased to make it flow a little better and eliminate pronoun inconsistency. Montanabw(talk) 23:29, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- Another typo:
- "When Regier asked her to leave, House Democrats pointed out that she was situate in a public area."
- Situate should be situated, past tense. 98.122.170.12 (talk) 15:24, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
Here's another typo; under the section "Career", it says "Zephyr's risw as an activist". I'm not a native English speaker, but I believe "risw" should've been "rise".

[edit]Does the blow-by-blow account of different people sitting on a bench in the hallway strike anybody else as somewhat absurd? XeCyranium (talk) 03:17, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, but it a) was an absurd incident and b) received coverage. DS (talk) 03:39, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
Partner marital status update
[edit]Zooey and Erin are now married, so partner status should be updated 2600:100E:B21A:8767:DCCB:761D:574A:CABB (talk) 18:22, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

Elected Officials MUST be exempt from Deadname rules!
[edit]Current politics requiring scouring the backgrounds of, and investigating all rumors and allegations about, elected officials and major party candidates. It's intolerable that Wikipedia abets politicians who assume new and fictitious names by denying the public access to their true, legal, birth name. Nothing historic in this article can be verified, because none of it happened under the name provided. 98.165.25.234 (talk) 16:38, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
- No, absolutely not. Everything in this article is verified. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:58, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
- Discussion of a policy change about WP:DEADNAME should go to WP:PUMP rather than being on one specific politician's talk page. lizthegrey (talk) 17:24, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
- Did this person do anything notable and sourcable under a previous name that she is still known for as that name? Do you have any sources that the name used in this article is not her legal name? How would she get elected under a "fictitious" name and not her legal name? What is a "fictitious name"? What are some other examples of Wikipedia using "fictitious" names for politicians? (or anyone for that matter, unless you mean stage names or pen names? in which case wouldn't bringing this up for an article like Mark Twain be better?) Ringtail Raider (talk) 19:40, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
- This is her legal name, and has been since she became a notable individual. Most accurate sources use this name as well. -Samoht27 (talk) 21:27, 1 February 2025 (UTC)
- WP:NONAZIS. Either change your ways or get out of Wikipedia. Your kind is not welcome here.
- We know what you're really saying, and it's less of a dog whistle than a megaphone. (More like MAGAphone.)
- Wikipedians REALLY need to stop feeding the trolls. SerialDesignationV (talk) 16:12, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
Clarifying current situation regarding Zephyr being barred from the house
[edit]Maybe add on the end of the legal action section something clarifying whether she is currently allowed to speak on the house floor? I assume not based on the article so just for the sake of clarity. Jocoder2 (talk) 14:13, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
