[edit]

UDD was created in December 1991. In the 1992 parliamentary elections the UDD arrived first[3] and emerged as the largest party in the Assembly of the Union, winning seven of the 42 seats. Following the elections Halidi was appointed prime minister.[4]

In the early parliamentary elections in 1993 the UDD reached to elect 2 deputies, one of whom was Ibrahim Halidi. UDD refused to form an alliance with the newly established[5] Rally for Democracy and Renewal (RDR) created by Djohar.[6][7].
