Welcome

Hello there, and welcome to my little space on Wikipedia. I aim for this page to contain a few details about myself as well as my activities here on the wiki.

Allow me to introduce myself - my name is Chris Philpot, and I'm a 25 year old freelance digital media professional from West Sussex in the United Kingdom. For more info, please visit my website.

Now, I shall answer the question I'm asked online probably more than any other: where does the pseudonym 'CountdownCrispy' come from? It is a game of two halves - 'Crispy' is an oronym for the shortened form of my name, "Chris P", and a nickname acquired in primary school and which I have been using on the internet since my fingers first began tapping on a keyboard. The initial element of the name is a more recent addition; since most large websites such as Wikipedia already have someone called Crispy registered (you'll have to ask them for their reasons for using the name!) I prefix my established pen name with something unique (read, "no-one else in their right mind would want to be called"). I plumped for 'Countdown' as alliterative recognition of my appearance on the British game show Countdown in 2004.

My activities on Wikipedia are quite varied; whilst I enjoy getting my teeth into an article you're more likely to find me making minor edits, reverting vandalism or adding my comments on the featured picture candidates. You'll always know if I've been working on a page because my edit summaries tend to be significantly longer than text I've just edited! I hope to have a small but helpful role in improving this excellent and so frequently undermined and undervalued resource.

That all said, what you are most likely to find me doing whilst on Wikipedia is simply reading. I've learnt so much from Wikipedia, and on a range of topics I would never normally have found within the pages of a traditional paper-based encyclopædia. I've been introduced to topics from Tiki Bar TV through to crushing by elephant, and I don't intend to stop any time soon. Why not give it a try? You might find something you find fascinating on this article here.

Anyway, I think that's all that is needed by way of a biography - I shall sign off and allow you to enjoy Wikipedia. If I've missed anything out or if you want to get in touch with me then please feel free to leave a message on my talk page.

Created

[edit]

I haven't started many articles at all. I started the article for the Heli Attack series, and nominated its sister article Heli Attack 3 for good article status almost exactly four years ago. It failed, and I haven't really been back since. I also started the article for Wordlock after buying one, thinking it was a very clever idea, and realising that no such article existed. You might notice a theme in that many of my hobbies and interests revolve around wordplay and anagrams.

Rewritten

[edit]

Looking back, I tidied up List of Countdown champions and Stewart Holden a fair while ago. More recently, I rewrote the article for Razer, a twice world champion of the British television programme Robot Wars. With help from some equally dedicated editors, and excellent image contributions from Michael Walton on Flickr and Ian 'Razer' Lewis himself, I was delighted when this became my first good article as a major contributor on 24 September 2010. (An early birthday present!) I'm starting to rewrite the article for series one champion Roadblock, albeit not to the same standard. Meanwhile, I also started to work on the article for Robot Wars itself at one point, but lost my head of steam. One day...!
