Here is a checklist of different genes and proteins that I want to work on, so I don't forget.

List of Proteins/RNA/Genes I want to work on
Gene Name Full Name Why it needs some love Resources
NINJ1 Ninjurin 1 Article is a stub, but gene has a well characterized role in mediating plasma membrane rupture. Pourmal, S., Truong, M.E., Johnson, M.C. et al. Autoinhibition of dimeric NINJ1 prevents plasma membrane rupture. Nature (2024). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-024-08273-4

Articles Wikipedia Could Use

[edit]
  1. 5-ethynyl uridine (EU), which is used to detect global RNA transcription, needs an article.
  2. The FirstLook Test for lung cancer is a liquid biopsy test for lung cancer based on fragmentomics doesn't have an article. FirstLook Blood Test
  3. For that matter, fragmentomics (study of fragmentation profiles of cell free DNA) also needs an article.
  4. The pesticide Calantha marketed by GreenLight Biosciences for use in the Colorado Potato Bettle is the first pesticide based on RNA interference (RNAi) and promises a more precise way to target insects with less cross-species toxicity. Science named it as a runner up to their 2024 Breakthrough of the Year.
  5. Could maybe use an article summarizing different RNA decay pathways, some of which don't seem to have any articles. Possible source: doi:10.1016/j.tcb.2023.11.003

Protein Complexes Pages that Could use Some Love

[edit]
  1. The MHC I Peptide Loading Complex has a beautiful new diagram over at PDB, which could be used to update this page. [1]

Gems

Fascinating things I found on wikipedia.

  • The great encyclopedist Diderot rants about stubs. "Aguaxima, a plant growing in Brazil and on the islands of South America. This is all that we are told about it; and I would like to know for whom such descriptions are made...." Read his comments in all their magnificence, then check out the userpage of MtBotany, where I first saw it mentioned.
