Namaste Wikipedians!

I have quite recently joined Wikipedia as an editor, having been using it for research purposes for over 14 years. As for my contributions here, I make mostly minor "clean-up" edits to articles suggested by Wikipedia, trying to find topics that interest me, to get practice on medium-level difficulty edits. The purpose of me joining Wikipedia as an editor is to help improve content, particularly by filling the gaps in the representation of contemporary Indian arts, companies, and other unique aspects of modern Indian culture. A lot of these topics are underrepresented or missing, as highlighted in the WikiProject India/Requested articles, and I aim to contribute by expanding on these areas.

Who Am I?

[edit]

I consider myself a part-time wordsmith and a keen tech enthusiast. I spend my days wrangling jargons into meaningful (or at least coherent) sentences. I often lay awake in the night thinking why I didn’t take up gardening as a full-time career instead. I do own a neat terrace garden, and miss every time I miss the opportunity to tend it better. I love animals and have had the fortune of parenting eleven astute, lovely, and few serene souls, including budgies, bunnies, a cat, squirrels, and my beastly guard dogs.

What Do I Do?

[edit]

I cook, I garden, I sip lots of coffee, and love listening to 'Dog Sleep' music. But what allows me to tend to these memorable aspects of my life is storytelling, I tell stories - sometimes with words, sometimes with data, and occasionally with diagrams no one asked for.

Some highlights from my professional life include:

  • Wrote over 40 web pages in two weeks on a complex productivity tool. They’re all alive and well, unlike my sleep schedule during that time.
  • Created multiple eBook on topics that interest me, and could only publish them on my portfolio.
  • Build some interesting tech projects including OCR, image color picker, and a weather extension that’s smarter than me when it comes to predicting rain.

My Toolbox

[edit]
  • Languages I Pretend to Know Well: Python, SQL, and HTML.
  • Tools I Actually Know Well: Google Analytics, WordPress, and Excel (because nothing says fun like a good pivot table).
  • Other Skills: Spotting typos from a mile away and overanalyzing memes.

Hobbies

[edit]

Apart from the many hobbies I covered above, I also enjoy doing yoga (to undo the damage of sitting all day), running (mostly only for few minutes before sitting down on nearest comfortable space to stare into the unknown).

Pet Peeves

People with zero sense of Traffic, that soul-crunching friction sound of not so smooth chalk on chalkboard, people talking loudly on phones around people who are clearly working, and that cringe feel on nails on unpolished wood (shivers).

Why I’m Here

[edit]

I believe knowledge should be free, accessible, and slightly entertaining. I hope to contribute to articles that make Wikipedia less of a boring encyclopedia and more of a delightful rabbit hole you accidentally fall into for hours.

P.S.: I share an IP with another editor, who I have asked on an occasion to help with salvaging an article I created. Please contact ArbCom for more information.
