Early Life and Education
Olu Okanlawon Peters is a fourth-generation English(Saro)Lagosian hailing from Isale-Eko, with a rich libertarian heritage linked to the British West Africa Squadron during the abolition of slave trade in the Bight of Biafra in the late 1885, prior to colonialism in Africa. He was born to the late Mrs. Abosede and Mr. Peters-Doe as the fourth of six children.
He completed his primary education in Ikeja, Lagos, before moving to Jos, Plateau State, where he attended Command Secondary School (CSSJ), a paramilitary institution. He initially pursued a degree in Mathematics and Economics but later shifted his focus, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Diplomatic Studies from Olabisi Onabanjo University. This academic background enabled him cultivate a deep understanding of global political dynamics and international relations.
Career
Okanlawon Peters embarked on a career as an entrepreneur in real estate development, forex trading and as a social enterprise investor while simultaneously engaging in part-time politics as a political strategist and philosopher. He became involved in the political landscape of Nigeria in 2006 as one of the early members of the Action Congress, which later evolved into the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). In 2010, he transitioned to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), where he remained until the party’s decline in 2015.
Disillusioned with socialism as a political ideology, he supported Kingsley Moghalu’s presidential bid under the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in 2019. In 2022, he took a bold step by founding the Republican African Party (RAP), a libertarian coalition aimed at combating globalist neocolonialism in Africa and the Caribbean. He has also been an advocate for the independence and self determination of indigenous people, such as IPOB and Oduduwa, promoting the idea of a referendum for self determination in lieu of traditional elections in 2023.
