Winners maps for OGAE contests

[edit]

Alex,

I fear that all the maps have been made rather hastily and without care and attention to the notability of these contests. A long debate had taken place at WT:ESC (now archived) with doubts as to whether these contests should even have articles, let alone winner maps. You have recently added 3 maps to the OGAE article. As there are parent articles for OGAE Video Contest and OGAE Second Chance Contest, I have removed their maps from OGAE into re-added them to their respective parent articles, which will help to retain their status as stand-alone articles. However, the map added for the OGAE Song Contest has been removed completely. That contest is not as notable as the other two, which is why the contest is written entirely in summary format, and could still end up with that section being moved all together for failing to meet WP:GNG and WP:DUE. Based on these circumstances, I would recommend self-nominating File:OGAE winners map.svg for deletion, just in case the section does become deleted. Good work with the other two maps though. Regards, Wes Mouse | T@lk 17:52, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. You can do what you see fit. If this maps has no place in the Wikipedia articles, you can remove its. But deleting from the Wikimedia Commons I would not have become, maps are created based on sources from the official website of OGAE (though it is not independent source). While other reason for deleting, I do not see, if it's not a problem, let the maps will remain at least at the Commons for further decisions. ← Alex Great talkrus? 06:02, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You may have missed the point here though. The two maps that have been moved have less chance of being deleted from commons because they are used on articles. The remaining one that is in question is not used on any language Wikipedia, and that makes it an orphan. Commons delete orphaned/unused files. And the fact the map has been created fr a contest that is not notable, increases its chances of deletion. Wes Mouse | T@lk 11:36, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I understand you, thanks. But at Commons a lot of orphan-files. If file doesn't used, this can be to exist. This map is useful. But if someone want to delete it, he maybe win a deleting debate. Many orphan files live very long time, and some files exist from 2006. ← Alex Great talkrus? 11:40, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yana Sergeyevna

[edit]

Alex, as much as I appreciate what you did in this link, please be sure to double-check the citation that is verifying the content. It may have escaped your attention, but I am well too aware of biography of living people policies and how strict they are. That is why you will notice (or maybe not have noticed) a citation next to the artist to verify the correct change. At the contest, when they introduce the song with on-screen graphics, the name very clearly shows Sergeyevna and not Dimova. So before going around and reverting people, make sure you double-check the citations. That way you won't be making a fool out of yourself. I am tirelessly working around-the-clock to bring all of the country articles that are of stub-class to a high quality and standard of Wikipedia C-classification. And the arduous research that I am doing browsing through the internet to verify the expansions is paying dividends. And before you start, NO I do not mean I am being paid to edit. That is another rule I am fully aware of, as I am also working hard to catch the conflict of interest users on here. Now, that I have addressed those matters, I shall resume my work on User:Wesley Wolf/sandbox/10, and bringing over 100 articles up to a high quality of encyclopaedic writings. Good day! Wes Wolf Talk 13:21, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Wesley Wolf: Do you listen what presenter says? She says "Welcome Yana Dimova" both in Turkish and Russian. In subtitle is mistake. Same mistake in this suptitle is "Lyrics by Anonim". Anonim? Realy? Wes, I do not like to argue with you. You can see the commentary this Where user says "Girl's name is Yana Dimova. Maybe her patronym name is actually Sergeyevna, but there turks is obviously something mixed up". You also can see this source where said " А юная исполнительница из автономии Яна Димова заняла 8 место в детском песенном конкурсе Bala Türkvizyon-2015" (translation: "And young artist from [Gagauz] authonomy Yana Dimova take 8th place at junior contest Bala Türkvizyon-2015". Yana Dimova is also there. You can change this sources instead of youtube video. ← Alex Great talkrus? 13:03, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Alex Great: you cannot state it is a mistake without providing reliable sources to back up your claim. You've been a Wikipedian user long enough now to know of these rules. There is video evidence that shows her surname on-screen as being Sergeyevna, and that is more viable than our own point of view, and stands to hold more credit than anything else. Wes Wolf Talk 10:03, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Wesley Wolf: See my last sentences. I provide two sources! ← Alex Great talkrus? 10:46, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Alex Great: you don't understand what I mean. You have claimed that broadcast was incorrect and that the on-screen titles was wrong. You need a source to back up that claim. Because as it stands, it is just your word over that of a televised source. The host presenter could easily have been wrong. But the fact that her surname was displayed as Sergeyevna on the on-screen graphics, is valid evidence of the name we should be using on the article. If she had a bio article, then her real name would be used, along with Sergeyevna as an alias. But as we are not talking about a bio article, then we must go off what the on-screen graphics used for the purpose of the contest article. Wes Wolf Talk 11:42, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, god. Ok you can do what you want. Discussion is closed. ← Alex Great talkrus? 12:18, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oleg Bezuglov

[edit]

Dear Alex, I noticed that you have some interest in music-related topics. Could you, please take a look at the Oleg Bezuglov article and express your opinion in discussion on whether it should be deleted or not. It was nominated on suspicion of not passing the WP:MUSICBIO criterion. The discussion is currently dead in the water, and I'm afraid it might be relisted again because of that. Fiddler11 03:20, 30 June 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fidler11 (talkcontribs)

I'm not interested in all music-related topics. I don't know who is Oleg Bezuglov. If he realy famous musician, he maybe known in very short circle of interest. Sorry, but I can't help. And also, if you know Russian, and if you know that I'n Russian. Why you ask me in English? Проще было бы общаться со мной на русском языке, в таком случае. ← Alex Great talkrus? 07:11, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Maps Q

[edit]

Hi there,

I was wondering if you could help me with wikimaps? I'm trying to create a custom one, and I need to make it clickable. Isn't there a website that allows you to find the co-ords by clicking around the border? Maybe you can point me in the right direction at least.

Thanks.
