Thank you for starting this article. A horrible thing has happened. We are close to being the last bulwark against censorship. Bearian (talk) 23:39, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Bearian: Thanks for checking it out. Let's stay cool!
- It is not useful to have data removed. However, we are not helpless.
- I am going to this event this weekend - meta:WikiCredCon 2025. The meeting is about how Internet Archive and Wikipedia can address misinformation, but also, I am going to pitch for bringing in more collaborators. I want to talk more with others about Wikipedia having a more formal, more resource-sharing relationship with organizations including OpenStreetMap, The Tor Project, Open Knowledge Foundation, Code for America, Center for Open Science, and whatever other nonprofit tech media organizations want to join. I sense that if any one of these gets pressure from any country in the world, then every one of them are collectively vulnerable together.
- I am glad I get to go to this San Francisco event but also we need more on-wiki and video-off-wiki conversations about rights and ethics. meta:WikiConference North America/2025 would be a great venue to bring people together for talks on rights and mutual protection.
- I am not imagining great changes in collaboration, but I think if we had groups of like 3 Wikipedians draft brief wiki community policy statements, then we could work those into position statements that others could vote on. Perhaps let's talk by video sometime? Bluerasberry (talk) 23:54, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
