Wikipedia Library icons
[edit]Hi, Ben. We're talking about a change to your bot at Help talk:CS1 errors. I think it will be an easy change (when the bot fixes the URL, please add a little template, too), and it's not an emergency. This can wait until exams are over. Best of luck with your exams. WhatamIdoing (talk) 23:37, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- @WhatamIdoing: Hey! I'll let the discussion on this one play out a bit before looking into implementing this—I have a feeling it'll be a bit controversial as all things are on Wikipedia. I'm also not sure it would be as easy of a change as it may seem. As it is right now, the bot basically works by searching for the Wikipedia Library URLs in plain text (think about your typical find/replace in a text editor). This means it wouldn't know the difference between citation templates, external links, or even plain text URLs in articles, which is great for cleaning up TWL links but would make it a bit tricky to have the bot accurately place the icon by citations. Also, exams went pretty well, and I'm now done with the school year—thanks for the encouragement! Question from Monica Joyce (18:09, 12 May 2025)
[edit]Hi Ben, thank you for your kind interest to help me navigate Wikipedia. I quite don't understand the notability criteria for persons articles. What does the source being independent of the person imply? I need your assistance on this. And what can I do if I received a redirect message asking me to improve my article? --Monica Joyce (talk) 18:09, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Monica Joyce: Hey there! To share some general info, as mentioned in our notability criteria for people,
People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject.
This means we only write about a subject when multiple other reliable sources have written about them first. As for the independence part, that simply means if the subject (or someone close to them) writes about themself, that source doesn't count toward establishing notability. For example, if I were to publish an autobiography about myself and my mom wrote another book about me, neither of those would help establish notability for a Wikipedia article about me. Now, that's not to say such sources can't be used at all—they still hold great information in many cases, but they don't show a subject's notability according to our standards.I hope this helps! If you can link to which draft you're asking about in particular, I might be able to provide more specific guidance. Bsoyka (t • c • g) 18:12, 13 May 2025 (UTC)- Thank you for the clearance. Here is the link to the page which was redirected. what can I do to remove this redirect message? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lydia_Nabunya_Nsaale_Kitayimbwa Monica Joyce (talk) 12:11, 15 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello, mentor! I have already advanced a lot without help, but now I must use some. I want to create a page for Ennea Lata, a species firsst described by E.A. Smith. I'm aware that the article is not an orphan, so I have that.
Let me wrap this up. I don't know how to create a Speciesbox. I tried using the template, but it didn't work.
Thanks! --Earth605 (talk) 15:02, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
