Question about Weis Markets

The guidelines for when it might be appropriate to semi-protect an article are described here: WP:SEMI.
If it turns out that you do need for a page to be semi-protected, the request is made here: WP:RFP.
But if the vandalism is only coming from one or two users at a given time, the appropriate response is to warn them on their talk page using progressively more strongly-worded messages, typically in the following sequence:

  3. {{subst:test3-n|Weis Markets}} -- ~~~~

Retail company infobox

Hey why is this template in your user space? I think it's rather a good idea, because this template could address a few parameters that are missing in the general company infobox that are specific to retail companies. Namely, the number of stores or locations is mildly important when comparing, say, Weis Markets to Albertson's, right? ...And I'm sure there are other parameters that may be helpful. I've come up with a few solutions to this problem and left them at the generic infobox's talk page. Let me know what you think! tiZom(2¢) 07:05, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Weis Markets Semi-protection

It's been a month; let's take a shot at unprotecting it. I've responded to a comment on Talk:Weis Markets and I've requested unprotection. Well ... not really. Vanderbilt's group picked up an unused charter and used it for an entirely different project. The fictitious person entity might have been the same, but everything surrounding it--backers, financiers, right-of-way, history--were different. Anyway, I was just trying to figure out a way to differentiate between the two because they had entirely different histories. "First" and "second" might not have been the best choice ... perhaps a better solution will arise. --Captadam 02:03, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Randy Newman

According to [1]: "When you write a song for yourself, people sort of tend to expect the 'I' in the song to be yourself. That's not the case in my songs." So if you want to say that Newman's background is described by "Dixie Flyer," you're going to have to come up with some evidence. Yes, it is based on his experiences, but that doesn't mean everything that happens in the song happened to Newman. (By the way, I see you're a fellow E/Eels fan. I assume you've heard the French interview where E mentions Newman as an influence and the interviewer isn't sure whether or not he's kidding....) The Image:Brianwilson-microphone.jpg included in your Brian Wilson userbox is a fair use image and should not be included in userspace, per WP:USER and WP:FAIR. Ohio Central Railroad

A tag has been placed on Ohio Central Railroad, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. I disagreed with this assessment, because Class III railroads are generally considered notable on Wikipedia. I restored the article, so if you're willing to continue expanding it, please do. The Ohio Portal

The maintainers of the Ohio Portal are looking to get it to featured status. They would like to ask all project members to help improve it any way they can. What needs to be done most is the supplying of selected articles and images.

Selected Article: Indian Head Rock

There is a eight ton rock in Ohio that was removed from the Ohio River. This rock is known as the Indian Head Rock Dating back to the early 1800’s, this rock was seen sticking out of the Ohio River and used as a navigational mark for barges along the river. The names of citizens from the town of Portsmouth, Ohio are carved into the rock from the late nineteenth a early twentieth centuries. Some of the names were of well known families from Ohio. They would swim out to the rock, have their picture taken with it or simply carve their names into it.
With the advent of the Locks and Dams along the Ohio River, the rock eventually was submerged, but the legend lived on. A gentleman from Ironton, Ohio located the rock after searching a very long time for it, and he and a crew of scuba divers recovered the rock and took it to the shore to be donated to Ohio for historical value.
After hearing the news about the rock being removed, Kentucky introduced legislation against the removal of the rock. They also want the diver who found it to be prosecuted for removing the rock. Kentucky owns the greatest part of the land the river runs on. Even the Army Corp. of Engineers got involved as to how to move the rock without damaging it. Kentucky wants to have it returned to the river.

The Ohio Portal

The maintainers of the Ohio Portal are looking to get it to featured status. They would like to ask all project members to help improve it any way they can. What needs to be done most is the supplying of selected articles and images.

Getting the Project Moving
  • WikiProject Ohio as an entity doesn't have as much action as other state projects. For this reason it has been proposed that the inactive WikiProject Ohio Townships be added as our taskforce. There is a !poll going on at WT:OH and your opinion is essential in the matter!
  • Stepshep has also proposed sending an invite to everyone in Category:Wikipedians in Ohio with an invite to join the project. If you are already a member you would not receive the notice of course. Once again, please note your opinion on the project talkpage.

The Central Avenue Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located at 201 to 338 Central Avenue in Dayton, Ohio. It consists of late 19th and 20th Century Revival-style houses as well as late Victorian-style houses, which were all originally single-family residences.

On December 16, 1982, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Each month a new Ohio related stub is the selected article. If you have a new stub created feel free to nominate it at the NewsDesk.
