Copy paste move
[edit] Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:List of legendary rulers of Wales a different title by cutting its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into List of legendary rulers of Wales. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. --YodinT 18:38, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- Sure, I understand now, this is the first time I tried the move as I didn't quite understand the process, thanks for explaining. Cltjames (talk) 03:13, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
userspace drafts
[edit]Instead of starting with your sandbox as a place to create a draft, you might want to consider using Help:Userspace drafts to give each draft its own name and its own clean edit history. Using them would also mean you could have more than one draft under development at once. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 05:57, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for the quick reply, I've submitted the draft again under a similar name. How do I go about deleting the old draft page with the incorrect history? Cltjames (talk) 06:07, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
- Pages where you are the only contributor can generally be deleted with the
{{db-author}}
template. In some cases, though, you may need to request a histmerge to preserve the full set of contributions. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 06:15, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

Please help me with... The draft article I wrote is a replacement to the 1983 stadium article I moved but with the same article title due to the stadium name not changing, e.g. Wembley Stadium, Wembley Stadium (1923). I received a message asking to follow up with live help because the draft review in process has been left alone for over 12 hours. Otherwise, to further explain, I spent some time to amend over 250 article links to update the original article title to the new title for the old stadium, so everything is set up for the draft to be published, if accepted. Please and thanks. Cltjames (talk) 00:26, 5 June 2025 (UTC)

- I think this article's lead should start by saying what the stadium actually is, not what larger complex it is a part, so it probably start with "Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium (...) is a football stadium under contruction in Rabat, Morocco." or something of the sort. Success with the artice! – Editør (talk) 23:10, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Editør thanks for the advice, done. Cltjames (talk) 16:46, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
