Wikipedia's LGBT Community
[edit]
Hi, Deafgeek!
You may not know that Wikipedia has both an LGBT Notice Board and an LGBT Studies WikiProject. If you haven't yet done so, take a look at both of them. They sorely need attention and participation! Some things on the "To-Do List" that merit particular attention include:
Please feel free to participate in any or all of these activities! And if you feel like it, add yourself to either the Noticeboard Members or the WikiProject Participants - or both! | |||
Glad you're a part of Wikipedia - and Thanks! | This invitation posted here by SatyrTN -- talk Please remove it if you so desire. |
Hi
Just letting WikiProject Buffyverse members know that the article 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' has recently been nominated as a candidate to become a featured article. Should it become a featured article, it will be possible for the article to appear on the Wikipedia main page on March 10th 2007, the 10th anniversary of Buffy (the premiere, "Welcome to the Hellmouth" aired March 10th 1997).
Any feedback you can offer to improve the article and/or to either object or support the nomination would be wonderful:

Deaf-mute
[edit]Hi Deafgeek. I'm seeking opinions and possible support for an issue in which I'm in a debate with other Wikipedians. I'm trying to change indiscrimant use of the term "deaf-mute" in describing deaf people in general. To see some comments related to the issue, see Talk:The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, as well as my own Talk page, User talk:Ward3001. You can also follow the links to other discussions. Right now I'm about the only person addressing the issue because deaf people are such a small minority. Other Wikipedians, with apparently no prior knowledge of the issue, are reverting my edits. If you're interesting in expressing your opinion, feel free to do so. If you wish to discuss further please leave me a message on my Talk page. Thanks. Ward3001 17:51, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
WikiProject Deaf
[edit]I notice you are a member of WikiProject Deaf. You may also add {{User WikiProject Deaf}}, which also adds a userbox to your page, or [[Category:WikiProject Deaf participants]] to your userpage. If you do, it will list you in Category:WikiProject Deaf participants. Taric25 20:09, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- I added you to Category:WikiProject Deaf participants. Taric25 16:27, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Another editor has added the {{prod}}
template to the article Eshu (World of Darkness), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}}
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 12:59, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Eshu (World of Darkness)
[edit]An editor has nominated Eshu (World of Darkness), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eshu (World of Darkness) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:59, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Hello
[edit]It seems you're new here, so I wanted to steal you before you get settled :D
I contribute at Wikibooks, which is a sister project to Wikipedia - we write open-content textbooks. I'm currently in the planning stages for b:Visual Language Interpreting and b:American Sign Language -- I wonder whether you'd be interested in contributing to these textbooks? If this piques your interest, let me know and I'll be happy to show you around the project etc.

Animals' use of sign language
[edit]I would appreciate comments from editors knowledgeable about sign language at Talk:Sign language#Animals' use of LANGUAGE, where an editor is trying to make an argument that animals such as apes, dogs, and horses use language. Thanks. Cresix (talk) 17:37, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
