CRC-PAR lineup

[edit]

Hi. Just informing the CRC formation should be 3-4-1-2 instead of 3-4-2-1. Thanks. 103.56.5.131 (talk) 02:35, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. They changed it after I posted the lineup. I'll fix it later. Thanks. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 02:39, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Chepe Mariscal

[edit]

He is referred to as Chepe but Sherdog and list of current fighters has him as "Jose". Are we sticking to the Sherdog rules? Thoughts? Marty2Hotty (talk) 16:27, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The most used version should be picked. He was Chepe at the other article as he uses it on social media, the UFC.com and other pages as well. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 17:05, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the guy added the UFC 307 blurb on TKO again with a different IP. I'll revert it. Marty2Hotty (talk) 14:24, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You should request page protection. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 14:26, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
on Bad Blood (2024) there is text that shows "This will be the first WWE PLE to take place at the same time as a UFC PPV, UFC 307 since the TKO merger." Do you think it is relevant to add on the UFC article. Marty2Hotty (talk) 14:26, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not at all. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 14:31, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
by the way https://www.instagram.com/tkogrp/p/C_7kr8KxGig/ posted UFC 306's actual gate of $ 21,829,245. This is the actual number from UFC/TKOGrp. MMAJunkie just rounded the number based on Dana White's words at the post-press conference. A few third-party websites reported the actual number, so we will go by the official announced number. I saw that you reverted it to the rounded number and wanted to give you a heads up on the reasoning. Thank you. Marty2Hotty (talk) 07:11, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure no problem. Just a heads up: can you create new sections when you add a topic here? This one started about Chepe Mariscal but has 2 other subjects in two different months that are unrelated. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 13:29, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tables in Olympic results pages

[edit]

You are the one reverting correct changes. Look at the USA results tables as an example. Keys are sorted alphabetically. I didn’t revert anything in the Brazil page. I had fixed both the order and the medal count. You even had to re-fix it after undoing my correct edits. tellarin — Preceding undated comment added 19:50, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I stand by what I've said (which is the correct way). You could've stayed quiet, but your own example reinforces what I've said: females have more golds than males, that's why they're above in the USA table for example. Do not revert. Btw re-fixing things is completely okay, when it's necessary. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 19:53, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Leon Edwards

[edit]

Hello,

Please do not change the date format of British fighters by removing the did by removing |format=dmy| on the 16th March 2023. I have no idea why you would remove this, aside from perhaps some kind of cultural imperialism. Whatever your reasons, this is now allowed on Wikipedia and you should refrain from making such edits in the future. It would be very beneficial if you could re-insert the content you deleted, adding the |format=dmy| back into the page, that would be a helpful contribution to this website.

Imperialism? I'm Brazilian, dude. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 02:10, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You're done it twice on the same page, you did it on 23 July 2024 as well, what is your problem?

Myaeka (talk) 02:13, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you keep doing it? What other pages have you done it to? Can you please revert your changes?

Myaeka (talk) 02:14, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've made the changes to the page, please do not change the date formats again or I'll have no choice but to call an administrator. I have no idea why you're doing it or what your purpose is, you've done it multiple times so I think it's a stretch to say it was an innocent mistake. Please respect different countries use different date formats.

Myaeka (talk) 02:23, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You've done it on Adesanya's page as well, I'm calling an administrator tomorrow. It would help if you could undo your unhelpful changes, I assume you've done made it on a considerable number of UFC fighters and on other pages.

Myaeka (talk) 02:25, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can't you just simply message once instead of spamming? We use dmy format in Brazil as well. It's just a matter of pattern with most pages. Anyway, you can revert them yourself. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 02:35, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sphere

[edit]

Hey, I know you are at an editing war for "Sphere" vs "the Sphere", but on broadcasts, podcasts and articles, the arena is called "Sphere"

https://www.thesphere.com/faqs <-- hilariously, the website is thesphere.com haha, but if you look at the article:

"Tickets for events at Sphere can be purchased on Ticketmaster, "

"Do I need a ticket for a show to enter Sphere?"

"Is there an age requirement to attend events at Sphere?"

etc. Can we change it to Sphere, because that's what they choose to go by and it has been referred as such in all media.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/style/of-interest/2023/10/11/sphere-las-vegas/ This article refers to it as Sphere. "This past Friday night, after several well-received U2 concerts, that screen is debuting Sphere’s other experience" throughout the article

It does say "Is it Sphere or the Sphere? Not even the building seems to know, referring to itself with and without the definite article" though

https://www.nhl.com/news/topic/nhl-draft/2024-nhl-draft-to-be-held-at-sphere-in-las-vegas-nevada

"2024 NHL Draft to be held at Sphere in Las Vegas"

Marty2Hotty (talk) 13:09, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/2024/06/ufc-306-riyadh-season-noche-ufc-rebrand
"UFC 306 will now go by another name after the promotion partnered with Riyadh Season for the event at Sphere in Las Vegas."
MMAjunkie also does not use "the"
"UFC will be the first to produce a live sporting event from Sphere"
etc.
I hope you are fine with it as the Wikipedia article was listed as Sphere for the months leading up to the event. Marty2Hotty (talk) 14:04, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever. I believe my POV is still misunderstood, but tired of it. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 23:16, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your point too, but that is the way Sphere is referenced in media and officially. It sounds weird. MMA Joey, a podcaster, said it's weird, but on broadcasts and most media, it is referenced as Sphere. It's weird, but I think it is the way it is. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2024 Sport Club Corinthians Paulista season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Castelão.

UFC Poster

[edit]

Hey brother, Should we update the UFC 309 poster? Because I found it poster a Brazilian version with Oliveira and Chandler, per https://x.com/UFCBrasil/status/1848434330659631256?t=ESSCTL8OtjbDlaeMTSKmNQ&s=19. AddedUpdatePoster (talk) 02:01, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, how are you? I don't think we should. The account is biased and obviously they just adapted it to include Charles in it. Whatever the organization releases in their main account is the official one IMO. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 23:19, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

sourcing

[edit]

Question. A "senior" editor likes to use the wiki editor that often includes "first, last name" in citations, while modern citations are like (url=https://www.mmamania.com/2024/11/3/24287116/banger-nate-landwehr-vs-doo-ho-choi-added-to-ufc-310-on-dec-7-2024%7Ctitle=Banger! Nate Landwehr vs. Doo Ho Choi added to UFC 310 on Dec. 7, 2024|publisher=mmamania.com|author=Alexander Behunin|date=2024-11-03|access-date=2024-11-03) for example. I remember you would edit the "first last name" ones and preferred the one I listed above. The guy reverted my ones and I am not sure why. I changed them while correcting the numerous typos/grammar mistakesMarty2Hotty (talk) 03:22, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I wish you were more specific about the revert, but I looked into it and then found the edit. Honestly Cassiopeia is very problematic. While helping a lot with articles, at the same time she can be very stubborn about a lot of things.
When it comes to sources format, there's not exactly a restrict rule to it. I tend to organize that way because I feel it looks cleaner and better in articles (specially events), while fighters' pages are a whole different level to bunch of sources added and styles. That's probably why she reverted your edit (and yes, there's always a bunch of grammar and typos in hers). Gsfelipe94 (talk) 13:47, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It may look cleaner but both suffice, I think. I have a question about Ilia Topuria. There are many that like to change the flagicon from Spain/Georgia, etc, but I think for him, it's an exception where we can include both flags since he is a citizen of both. We do not have to refer to Sherdog all the time for that. I did re-edit the page fixing the errors though because the editor did not realize I fixed the mistakes. Did not know the editor was a she. Interesting to see that much interest in editing UFC articles. Thanks. Marty2Hotty (talk) 16:27, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Topuria is a done deal since he won the title. We do not add double citizenship flags on the articles. The talk pages of his article and List of UFC Champions' page already have the discussions. His main nationality is Georgian. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 17:14, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
oh, but recently, sherdog updated his flag to Spain, so the senior editor has been editing it back to Spain. What to do? Marty2Hotty (talk) 17:27, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sherdog is not the ultimate truth. People usually use it to gather a supposed consensus on fight results, but other than that it's not a bible to be followed. That's not an argument to change flags whatsoever. Gather a discussion. Cassiopeia always runs aways from them and is usually on the wrong side of things. I've seen it happen quite a lot. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 21:09, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
cassio changed it back to Spain based on what sherdog said. So this is going to be a problem because that list of UFC fighters page is dependent on sherdog. Marty2Hotty (talk) 23:13, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not really. Just read my last reply again. All of it. Cassiopeia is stubborn, but if you do things right, it will be restored correctly. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 00:46, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Another thing: I've noticed that Cassiopeia's updates on that page kind of look like it's a personal page of hers. Those notes very likely were something that the user came up with and since the majority of updates there are done by such user, it's no surprise that we see all these discrepancies. Like I said, Cassiopeia is usually very stubborn and distorts a lot of directives and rules here. There have been several situations in which we could've easily solved an issue but it dragged a lot due to her attitudes. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 00:51, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I edited the notes/key but there was somewhat of a consensus of rules that was discussed on the talk page.
I cleaned up a lot of the page in the past few months. I think there were 30-40 typos when it first started. Now it's quite tidy but I double check every time an edit is made
The user in question needs to look at the edits that are made right after to see if it's okay, like all editors should do. Often, there are typos or citation errors.
English is not the user's first language so sometimes going back and forth via discussion is not the most productive because the points go over the user's head. Marty2Hotty (talk) 02:51, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I believe you are right that it is a personal page of the said user. Marty2Hotty (talk) 21:26, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

List of male mixed martial artists

[edit]

What do you think of this page that has existed since 2006. We link to it from every active fighter but it's not a complete database of all fighters and it shouldn't be.

Do you know what the point of that page is. It says "notable" mma fighters will be on there but I doubt the page has much relevance

Thoughts? Marty2Hotty (talk) 07:15, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Never noticed such page. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 19:31, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
it's at the bottom of "See Also" for every UFC fighter if you go to the bottom of every fighter's Wikipedia page. I never really bothered to click it until recently, but it is pretty crazy. Marty2Hotty (talk) 14:41, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

UFC 311

[edit]

https://www.si.com/fannation/mma/news/islam-makhachev-vs-arman-tsarukyan-2-reportedly-booked-2025-ufc-311 this article from Sports Illustrated that I put on UFC 311's page writes: "Set to take place at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, CA, UFC 311 will be the promotion’s first PPV card of 2025 and currently features six confirmed fights"...

I reverted your edit as a result. Also: https://www.vividseats.com/ufc---ultimate-fighting-championship-tickets-intuit-dome-1-18-2025--sports-boxing-and-fighting/production/5341676 tickets are already for sale for the event. I believe this is sufficient enough to put it on the page. Just a heads up. Let me know what you think! Marty2Hotty (talk) 14:41, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, the SI is the only article with such mention, but it's ok with the tickets page... When a solid source comes up we can change it. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 18:15, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
