AUWU

[edit]

Thanks for your efforts to remove vandalism and dreck from this article, FWIW. Their website says that the president has changed, Kristin O'Connell went to the Antipoverty Centre, and I can't easily find the co-ordinators on the website so I dunno if the others are still accurate. Question for administrator

[edit]

Help - it seems like either one person is now persistently targeting the Australian Unemployed Workers' Union page seeking to vandalise through multiple IP addresses, or a group of people are doing this in concert. Three single-purpose IPs have appeared there now in the last two days, each seeking to add the exact same WP:OR incorrect information on that page.

That page has been targeted by many IPs and red-linked accounts (mostly single-purpose), on and off within the last three years, but now more so than usual. When I send a warning to one IP, another IP appears later on doing the same disruptive/vandalising edit.

What would be the best way forward to deal with this issue?

Hi JayBee00. Looks like the page is in the midst of an uptick in disruptive editing, so I protected it for a week. I know this is unlikely to be helpful with the periodic waves of interest. I think the involvement of more experienced editors might be a better solution than more admin action. A neutral post to WP:AUSTRALIA or a noticeboard like WP:NPOV might solicit some more watchlisters. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 14:19, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Firefangledfeathers, appreciate that intervention too - yeah, I think I'll try the NPOV noticeboard first during this next week. Although given the overall pattern of disruption, hoping permanent semi-protection might be possible later on as the situation continues though. That would definitely deal with most of the disruptive editing going forward, if it can be done.JayBee00 (talk) 14:25, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Speaking just for myself, I'd be inclined to turn down an indefinite protection request. I might feel differently if there were obvious talk page consensus against the change the IPs keep making. Another admin might feel differently. I would recommend going right to WP:RFPP/I next time instead of using the admin help template. ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:00, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Brisbane Bears' Foundation Date Infobox

[edit]

Hi mate,

Saw your revision - didn't realise there were such an extensive discussion on it already, so I accept that the Brisbane Lions isn't a successor club. However, I do still think that the added text following the Bears' foundation date in the infobox is messy and long. I think it'd be enough to include the 'current status' of the club in the main body and leave the infobox foundation date as is à la St. George Dragons.

What do you think? PokeFan10025 (talk) 10:01, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again,
Thought I'll give you a heads-up in that I'll edit the page to reflect my suggestion sometime soon, which I assume you're content with judging by the lack of a response. I could compromise with a footnote if you really want the info included; it'll just make everything look neater. PokeFan10025 (talk) 13:45, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry PokeFan10025, but I've been busy with things IRL. That content in the infobox was the result of a fix I had to do after a previous factually incorrect infobox edit by someone else back in October. Having that clarification seemed like the best way to ensure a reasonable working consensus with no more editing conflict from that source, and until now that seems to have worked out, so would prefer it remained that way really I think.
