Church of Ireland

[edit]

Could you please stop with your POV-pushing and censorship on Church of Ireland? What you are doing is not a good idea. The Banner talk 08:52, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Saying that the Church of Ireland was founded by Henry VIII is POV-pushing, it just happens to be a Roman Catholic perspective. The Church draws direct legal, institutional and historical line to the pre-Reformation church in Ireland founded by St Patrick. There was no new church ‘founded’ by Henry, only a reform of the existing one. LODU70 (talk) 08:57, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your claims are rather spectacular, especially around LGTBQetc. Do you have independent sources to back up your claims? The Banner talk 09:28, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Spectacular in what regard? Yes, of course there is much objective historical source material on the claims of the Church in this regard (E.G. the 3-volume “History of the Church of Ireland”, Ed. W.A. Phillips, Oxford University Press, which traces the Church’s history directly to the Celtic church). The same legal corporations which existed pre-reformation continued afterward in the Church of Ireland. This isn’t a spiritual claim that the CofI is right and the RCC is wrong, it’s a historical one. Can you demonstrate by sources that Henry VII intended or created a ‘new’ church anywhere?
Re: the Church’s stance on sexuality. This is all readily available on the Church of Ireland website. The Church has not changed its teaching at all on marriage or sexuality. What the Wiki article currently suggests is that there is a great debate, which is simply untrue. The last bishops’ letter in 2018 states that there is “little appetite to discuss further these issues” within the parishes. Also, rather than permitting private blessings for same-sex couples, they simply said it was impossible to ‘proscribe’ such prayers.

As a well-informed member of the Church in question, why do you want to censor my input? Is it simply because you don’t like your narrative being challenged? LODU70 (talk) 09:46, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You should try and discuss it on the talk page first, especially massive changes. I am not interested in censorship, just in a neutral article. But you take a stance, based on your own preferences it seems, that harms the neutrality. The article is now protected so you have time enough to discuss your preferred changes on the talk page of the article. And please, come with independent sources in that discussion. The Banner talk 10:09, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting, because the sexuality section has been massively amended in recent months and years to add all of the additional material suggesting division. But it’s nowhere in the talk section. Seems some perspectives have to be proved more vigorously than others. LODU70 (talk) 10:13, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I fail to see the objective source material for your claim the Church was founded by Henry VIII… LODU70 (talk) 10:15, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You’ve had a chance to engage this in the Talk section, you’ve not done so. If St Patrick is listed as the unqualified founder of the RCC in Ireland, the same neutrality should be afforded to the CofI. LODU70 (talk) 09:18, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your contentious claims have again been reverted. Do you have any independent sources to back up your claim? The Banner talk 10:05, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have already told you; the 3-volume “History of the Church of Ireland”, Ed. W.A. Phillips, Oxford University Press, which traces the Church’s history directly to the Celtic church. What independent sources do you have that Henry VIII created a new institutional Church?
I will now correct your misinformation, again. LODU70 (talk) 10:33, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have again reverted your POV-pushing and requested another full protection. The Banner talk 14:51, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So, you base yourself on a book out of 1933 (one version) or 1953 (another version)? The Banner talk 15:04, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That’s one source I have to hand. Do you have any scholarly sources to reinforce your assertions? LODU70 (talk) 15:10, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have ordered another book to check the issue. But sources need to be reliable and independent, not necessarily scholarly. The Banner talk 15:38, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

POV-pushing

[edit]

Can you stop your POV-pushing? Your edits are clearly prom a protestant viewpoint, making the Church of Ireland way more important than they are in the Republic of Ireland. The Banner talk 11:41, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia does not exist to reflect relative “importance”- that’s the definition of POV pushing! My edits have been neutral, historical and referenced. Yours have been inflammatory and biased. you should stop. LODU70 (talk) 11:47, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, most are not sourced and certainly not neutral. The Banner talk 13:20, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Could you give an example of a non-neutral edit I have made to your neutral edit? LODU70 (talk) 13:28, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
