September 2011
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not replace pages with blank content, as you did with this edit to Ann Lake, as this is confusing to readers. The page's content has been restored for now. If there is a problem with the page, it should be edited or reverted to a previous version if possible; if you think the page should be removed entirely, see further information. Thank you. Edit to User:American Eagle/Guestbook
[edit]Sorry about that warning. I did not realize you were editing a guestbook when I reverted your edit to User:American Eagle/Guestbook. People will often sign the user space content of others as an act of vandalism, though obviously signing a guestbook is totally acceptable. Monty845 15:57, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. [edit]I like your moxie, so I've decided to bring you into my wikihome. You're an orphan no longer. Please feel free to ask me questions. Superm401 - Talk 21:11, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Userbox
[edit]I would start by looking at the source code of a userbox you want to use as inspiration. You can then look at the documentation at {{userbox}} for more information. Let me know if you have something particular in mind. Superm401 - Talk 21:51, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Some questions
[edit]- Just copy {{POTD}} to your user page.
- One good place would be Wikipedia:Requests for feedback.
- Are you asking how I wrote {{Userbox}}? It's {{tl|Userbox}}. Don't forget, you can always click Edit to see the source code for someone's edit.
- I just clear it, then copy the link from the history right before the clear. Then I add a new line Archive #. To get this link, click View history; the date links go to old page versions. Superm401 - Talk 17:11, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
Redlinks
[edit]Yes, appropriate red links are fine. See Wikipedia:Red link. Superm401 - Talk 18:05, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

MOTDs (This space for rent)
[edit]You may have noticed over the past few days that the MOTD that you link to on your user page has simply displayed a red link. This is due to the fact that not enough people are reviewing pending MOTDs here. Please help us keep the MOTD template alive and simply go and review a few of the MOTDs in the list. That way we can have a real MOTD in the future rather than re-using (This space for rent). Any help would be appreciated! –pjoef (talk • contribs) 11:32, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm Theroadislong. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions to List of creation myths because it didn't appear constructive. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! Theroadislong (talk) 18:16, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to List of creation myths, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Some advice
[edit]You may want to check out parts of this essay on the interaction between the Bible and NPOV, as well as our Christian Mythology article. "Myth" does not mean "false story," but "sacred story," and a number of theologians (including C.S. Lewis) have described much of the Bible as myths that are true (see also "The Word as True Myth" by Gary J. Dorrien). Evolution does not qualify as a myth because it is not a sacred narrative but a collection of evidence systematically organized into a peer-reviewed and experimentally-examined explanation of natural law. This does not mean that creationism is wrong, Old Earth creationism (especially Day-age creationism) works quite well with evolution. Ian.thomson (talk) 14:10, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Your recent edits at Semi-Slav Defense
[edit]If you read the note at the top of the Category:Chess page it states… "This category may require frequent maintenance to avoid becoming too large. It should directly contain very few, if any, articles and should mainly contain subcategories." The article Semi-Slav Defense is NOT a game it is a strategy of a game and does not belong there. Another editor has also reverted you.Theroadislong (talk) 08:39, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- To link to a Category page, rather than adding this page to the Category, put a colon at the beginning of the link. FTFY. —Tamfang (talk) 09:02, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
Categories form a branching (and overlapping) hierarchy. No article ought to be a member of any given category and one of its supercategories; that causes needless crowding of high-level categories. Semi-Slav Defense is a member of Category:Chess openings, which is a member of Category:Chess theory and Category:Chess terminology, both of which are members of Category:Chess, which in turn is indirectly a member (at least three ways) of Category:Games. Semi-Slav Defense is thus already a member of two of the Categories that you added; making it a direct member does not help. —Tamfang (talk) 08:59, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
Gran Colombia
[edit]Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Gran Colombia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 18:38, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

We noticed though that when you edited 3HHH, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Victoria (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). DYK for Poland–Russia border
[edit]On 18 September 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Poland–Russia border, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the Poland–Russia border, now only 232 km (144 mi) long, used to be much longer? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Poland–Russia border. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Abkhazia–Russia border
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:Abkhazia–Russia border requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The priority of this page is high.
The community vote of this year's Board Elections are close. As always voter mails will be sent out. To invite as many community members as possible in their native tongue your help is very much appreciated. While there are already plenty of translations we would appreciate you to check for languages still missing and to contribute translations for these.
The mails are short, just a bit about two times 200 words, a few minutes of work.
Your support is very important as it helps communities to learn about the election and to cast their vote.
Best, Denis Barthel (WMF)
