How to Efficiently Revert Edits?
[edit]I'm WritingEnthusiast14 from wikiHow (I'm sure you know about me). I've decided to come over to Wikipedia and start editing here, too. I don't have access to the rollback tool that I'm used to on wikiHow, so I can't figure out how to efficiently patrol and revert pages. Any suggestions? WritingEnthusiast14 (talk) 21:03, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
- For now, using Twinkle is the best way of reverting edits. If you want something faster, you can also install the Lupin tool, which assists in fighting vandalism. After you've been on for a few months and shown that you're capable of reverting edits and doing it well, you can request rollback, which also gets you access to the Huggle tool. As for patrolling, you'll want to see the Wikipedia:Patrols page, since there multiple ways of doing patrolling here. Lugia2453 (talk) 14:28, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
- I see. I've already set up Twinkle (I'm liking it, actually). I might try out Lupin sometime soon. Thanks for the help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WritingEnthusiast14 (talk • contribs) 15:06, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
- When You Get Rollback rights, Id also Recommend Stiki, Which automatically feeds info from CluebotNG edits that possibly could be Vandalism. Happy_Attack_Dog (Throw Me a Bone) 19:36, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
[edit]Hello Lugia2453. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

HELP! Private data in diffs shown - need help removing diffs from History on my User page.
[edit]Hi Lugia, You might recognize this username from wikiHow. I'm Byankno1 (as you could probably tell from the same username).
A few years ago, before I started my wikiHow account. I was really stupid on this site. I seriously gave my complete first, middle initial and last name of myself, my parents, brothers and even grandmother (which I later deleted) on my User page here, along with our occupations at the time. From reading books about Wikipedia and watching edits get cleared off of other pages due to other reasons (so they can't even be seen in the history), I was wondering if both that edit and any edit that could have involved this issue being seen in the preview could be completely removed from the history of my User page here. From reading the forums post on wikiHow where you said that you had more rights than most others, would it be possible for you to help me remove these few edits so they aren't seen by others in the History list? It's been quite too long, and I'm afraid other people will have potentially seen this by now. I've cleared them away, but the diffs still are shown. Please, please, please. If you can't, please pass this request on to others who can, please, please, please. The page that references the removal is shown here and the link that shows the addition is here. There are about 10-12 edits in between these two diffs. Please remove them from the history page, so none of these edits show — Preceding unsigned comment added by Byankno1 (talk • contribs) 21:12, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Madam C. J. Walker. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism. Thank you. Ghmyrtle (talk) 16:18, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- I was trying to revert the article to its last good revision, per my edit summary, not vandalize it. It looks as though the article went through a heavy amount of vandalism, so I was trying to find a good revision to revert back to. Apparently, the one I reverted to wasn't this - I was trying to change it back to a more appropriate revision before your revert. I understand why you reverted it, but this warning didn't seem necessary, IMO. A level 2 warning is also pretty high for this one-time case. It's better to start with a level 1 warning and work your way up if vandalism by the user persists, as I do. Lugia2453 (talk) 16:31, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- Yep, apologies.... I shouldn't have templated you. I guess you misunderstood what the correct version was. I've now reverted it to an earlier version, before the latest round of vandalism started. Ghmyrtle (talk) 16:51, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hey Lugia2453, I just clicked onto yr notice that u'd outed an edit of mine about the Metropolitan Railway. The article said that the Metro Railway connected to Euston Station. This is not so, nor has it ever been. I removed this lie; which has been restored.
The London & Birmingham Railway stopped north of Euston Square, the Metropolitan Railway ran beneath the main road to the south of Euston Square, and nor was any tube station built then or now that's near to Euston Station. It is a very major nuisance to passengers travelling from or to the Northwest and continuing from/to the east, the south, or southwest ..... either they must lug their luggage to/from Euston Square Tube Station, or use a taxi, or wander the tunnels of the Underground to find a tube train for them which will connect to the Metropolitan Railway or other tube line that they are searching for. The ease of connexion to the tube from the mainline stations at Farringdon Road, King's Cross/St Pancras, Marylebone, and even Paddington continues to shame the builders of the Metropolitan Railway regarding Euston.... the nearest station of the Metropolitan Railway is Euston Square; which is half a kilometre in the open air.
Of note is that the cut-and-cover build of the Metropolitan Railway neither shifted north of the Euston Road to be beneath or to the north of Euston Square; and that the Metropolian Railway chose to site its nearest station to Euston Station not at their railway's nearest point to Euston Station [a matter of < 100 yards], but > 400 yards away.
It seemed to me, and still does, that this needs to be noticed. Not least to tell present-day travellers of the ghastliness that will greet them as they search in vain for an integrated transport hub locked into the majorest railway terminus in London that connects to Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Stoke-on-Trent, Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, Holyhead and the Irish ferries, Preston, Carlisle, Barrow-in-Furness, and Glasgow.
I'd be obliged to u to restore my edited items. Thanx. 82.69.73.5 (talk) 13:07, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

[edit]So, basicly, u are so dull, so day-school stupid that u are unable to cope with even the slightest correction to yr incapacity. doh doh doh. The fact of the matter is, as said at start, that Euston Railway Station is still, as it has ever been, OUT of the interlinkage between railway termini in London: the GC @ GC @ Marylebone, GWR @ Paddington, the LSWR @ Waterloo, the SEC at Charing Cross, the LBCS @ Victoria, the EC @ Farringdon Road, the GE @ Liverpool Street, the GN @ King's Cross. & the Midland @ St Pancras. On the record as Gary Sunbeam, [u know my name, so see me in court] may yr holiday luggage be sold in Mumbai for the next 2200 years. I insult u so that the people may win. The sovereign people and tourists need to KNOW that Euston is an island within the metropolitan space; although it is not a part of it. A kinda Alcatraz.
From the historical viewpoint, Why???? did this happen?..... As said before Was it FREEMASONS?. U do not dare to ask. Whose money separated Euston from everywhere else?. U are American. George Washington was a Freemason. Freemasons opposed freeing slaves. What do U say about slavery?. I look u in the eye when I say this, American.... Where do u stand on freeing Afro-Americans from slavery?. Leave alone freeing the wage-slaves of England from the trek between Euston & Euston Square. As a Jew, I stand with Afro-Americans, and oppose slavery: unto flagellation, unto blindness, unto death. What do u do? ..... in naming wage-slavery?..... pretend that u're on holiday. I curse u personally, 'though I do not know yr name.... these facts must be made known, or I'll get someone to kneecap u. Assume that I don't mean it, and know that the web says that I've only got a 7% chance of being dead in 5 years' time. Am I an extremist?. Was Buddha?. Was Jesus?. Was God?. Was Mohammed?. Surely u can be truthful on railway termini, when praying to any of them?.... but not when being turned into manure by Hitler nor Stalin?. Well, now; let's have a nice cup of tea. And get the sugar-lumps right, like the London termini. If u don't mind too much; pretty please. {that's a thing about us Brits, we understand politeness... we only burned down the White House AFTER war had been declared.} — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.69.73.5 (talk) 11:10, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
