Disambiguation of Okura
[edit]Disambiguation pages are only required when three or more articles that can be confused exist. For now, there is only a really crappy article on Okura that doesn't even make sense (it could probably be deleted, but for now would be better if it was expanded), so the convention would be to have a disambiguation link at the top of each page, something like this:
... and on the article referring to the Japanese version of Okura you would write:
... or whatever description is most appropriate. Note that to create those sentences I am using a template, which looks like this: {{dablink|type your information here}}. Type that at the top of the page where you want to put the disambiguation link (dablink), and it will indent it and put it in italics, which is a standard style for such links.
The most common/relevant Okura article would be placed at Okura, and since you seem to think it would be the Japanese one it should stay there. Since you can't have two articles with the same name, check the style guidelines for places in New Zealand by looking at other similar articles. I assume the name would be something like Okura, New Zealand, or Okura, ProvinceStateOrDistrict, though it could also be something more like Okura (New Zealand), which is also a common style for disambiguating titles.
If you make an article for the river as well (meaning there's 3 Okura articles) tell me on my talk page and I'll help you disambiguate that. freshofftheufoΓΛĿЌ 00:43, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry to interrupt on somebody else's talk page. I just moved Okura to Ōkura school. I hope this helps avoid confusion. Fg2 07:06, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Re:Murupara
[edit]Thanks for double checking the location - I was sure it would be East Coast! :)
BTW, a comment on the discussion above, with NZ place names the naming guidelines would be Placename if it's the only place with that name in the world, Placename, New Zealand if there are others in the world but only one in NZ (not Placename (New Zealand)!), and Placename, Province if there are two or more places with that name in NZ. The only exception is features of cities like parks, which usually get Placename, City. All the details are at Wikipedia:Naming guidelines or one of the pages connected to it. New NZ related articles.
[edit]Hi, you might want to add any new New Zealand related articles you create or come across to Wikipedia:New articles (New Zealand). This paged is watced by several people and is a good way to let people know about new articles. - SimonLyall 04:57, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Your work on List of New Zealand lakes was incredible and added a lot to the community. It looks like an incredibly boring and long task, but one you did superbly. Kia kaha. Midnighttonight (rendezvous) 23:55, 7 January 2007 (UTC) |
Lakes of New Zealand
[edit]Amazing work! It is such a pleasure to see a complete list of all lakes in New Zealand. Being an editor that always writes complete articles, I am normally reluctant to translate incomplete lists. This one, I felt, had to be done, but there was still a dose of discontent in me because of its incompleteness. But now this is wonderful. I know it will be a challenge, but I will gladly do it. Unlike other languages, Macedonian and the rest that use cyrillic alphabet require translation for everythijng translatable and transcription only for specific intranslable names (and, of course, all Māori names). Thanks for the great job. All best. --B. Jankuloski 00:59, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
WP:SCOWNB Participants merger with WP:SCO
[edit]As I hope you may have seen I am attempting to tidy up WP:SCOWNB by removing old notices and the duplication that has emerged since the creation of WP:SCO. One of the latter issues is that there are lists of active Wikipedians on both locations which overlap to a significant degree. As WP:SCOWNB is ideally a place for announcements I am in process of merging the lists at WP:SCO and intend to remove the one at WP:SCOWNB when this is complete. However there are a fair number of Users not on both lists. If you do not wish to have you current WP:SCOWNB entry re-appear at WP:SCO please either let me know or edit the latter as appropriate. Thanks for your patience, and continuing support of matters relating to WikiProject Scotland. Ben MacDui (Talk) 18:17, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Lake Pupuke
[edit]Hello Malathos. Thanks for adding info on the lake and the Pumphouse. Can I still ask you to have a look at how I changed your information? For a small article such as this, it may not look necessary to provide the references information inline (as I have now done), but on larger articles (or such that might eventually become that way), finding the correct reference without inline refs can become hopeless, even if it is nicely cited at the bottom. Hope I am not coming across as too lecturing, just trying to assist. Cheers, MadMaxDog 07:42, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Hi Malathos, as a WikiProject Scotland participant, please check out this this thread and consider adding the bot results page to your watchlist so we can manually update the New Articles page. There are some false results for the first batch, but I'm sure we can collectively tune the rules to improve the output.
If we get enough people watching the results page, we'll be cooking with gas as they say :) This looks like a great helper in finding new Scotland related material. Cheers. --Cactus.man ✍ 01:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
You are NOT the Malathos from youtube
[edit]Dear sir, With respect, you are NOT the Malathos from youtube. I am the Malathos from youtube. I don't see any evidence of you claiming to be me, I certainly don't live in New Zealand, I'm in U.S.A. I was very curious as to how you picked the name Malathos. Feel free to leave me a comment at www.youtube.com/malathos that's me. Have a good day sir, as long as you don't pretend to be me, I suppose we can both use this handle, but I hope you understand my annoyance at being "copied". Hope to hear from you soon.

Eagles Nest
[edit]Hi. Please see both my comments on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eagles Nest and the improved article as well. I think, the AfD should now be more or less a non-issue. Cheers Ingolfson 10:39, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

You had indicated on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals page that you would be interested in working with a project dealing with Celts. The project is now active at the page linked to above. Thank you. John Carter (talk) 17:59, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay
[edit]Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.
Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.
Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
