How to denote missing details on a wiki for other contributors?

[edit]

I would like to denote missing details on certain wiki pages so contributors can be notified of the same when visiting the page. I notice few wiki articles missing images, I would like to denote that this is missing similar to the {citation-needed} tag for missing citations.

Please guide me on the templates to be used and other details around the same.

You could add {{Photo requested}} on the article talk page describing what photo(s) would be helpful. Also, many WikiProject templates on talk pages have a parameter like |needs-image= or |needs-photo= that you could add and set to "yes". Happy editing! Thank you for your suggestion GoingBatty, will use the options that you have suggested. Rahul-kumi (talk) 03:24, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

There are a lot of maintenance templates (or tags) relating to content. You can dive into them by exploring Category:Wikipedia maintenance templates.
For images, though, there's a different approach. Perehaps you'd primarily want to use {{image requested}} on the talk page of the article - emphasis that the template belongs on the talk page - and there are some related templates for phtotos, maps, charts, {{audio requested}}, infobox, etc.
Don't go crazy putting tags in every place where something could be added. Use them sparingly, aiming for the places where fulfilling the request would make a large difference in the quality of an article. Also, if an article already has tags, there is little need to pour more on. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:30, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your suggestion jmcgnh, I will explore the Wikipedia maintenance templates and sparingly add requests for media inclusions where ever these might add value articles. Rahul-kumi (talk) 18:28, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
