To many photos

You are adding way to many photos to articles. You should understand this this project is not an image gallery and articles should not be cluttered with photos. Like I have stated before, this article still has 13 images in it which is still way to many but should stand for a while until a commons link is added to the article as suggested by jbar. Once this is done we can transfer all related images into this link. This should free up the article and give it some breathing space. We should probably do the same thing with other articles as well. But till then I think that minor clean ups like with the Annandale article should continue. I will be taking a short break for a while, when I return we will discuss it. But remember I have a right to edit and reduce excessive amounts of images if I think an article is over crowed. Someone has to keep an eye on things. If everyone was allowed to add what ever they wanted this project would be chaos. Why don't you try to write an article about the Johnston st group. I found a website that provides information on every house on that block. Instead of having an article for the Abbey you could merge this into an article about the J st group and have a section for each house and as many pictures as you want. You should not give up the struggle but strive to do better. Also, with you negative comments towards admins and other users. These people need to stay neutral and not take sides in edit wars, if they are seen to be doing this it could cost them their adminship. Also no one is stalking you.

If your above comments are directed towards me well you are wrong. I am simply following the Sydney suburban navigation boxes, starting from the first link and working my way through the list. If it looks as though you images are the only ones that are targeted, well my user name might give you a hint as to why I removed it. I know you can do better than this. Re: Cults

Hi Sardaka. Yes, I know; IMO they're a particularly extreme example of what in general use would be called a cult. But Wikipedia tries to avoid value-laiden terms like that. It's enough to describe the practices of The Family; we don't need to label them. For example, the article Osama bin Laden goes to great lengths not to call the man a terrorist; however it does point out the many, many sources that have given him that label. Re: Blogs

In general, it's true that blogs aren't appropriate as refs. However, they're OK either when they're being used as primary sources for non-contentious things that the subject writes about him/herself (which is the case at Sarah's article), or when the blog author is a published expert in the topic whose work has appeared in traditional reliable sources. I am taking up your offer at the AfD debate to discuss what I see as shortcomings in the article. I am a bit reluctant because of the negative comments at the top of your talk page, but I will assume good faith and strive not to be pigeonholed into one of your three bad categories.

The cult leader should not be referred to as "AHB" as this is not a standard way of referring to people on Wikipedia. Mentions should comply with WP:SURNAME though I recognize that shared surnames make this a complicated case. Initials, though, are not acceptable. The article, in my opinion, relies too much on the subject's autobiography. Add more references from neutral sources. The article should be rewritten with a strictly and scrupulously neutral point of view. Blacket

Re your pics of Blacket's buildings, the earlier ones (even though at low resolution) showed the details of the architecture much better than the recent ones. At St Marks, the building was straighter, and far more of the spire was visible, as well as more details of the roof, and no distracting steps. At the Bishopscourt pic, the older one had sunshine in all the right places so that the details of the gables and the stonework were revealed. As for the pic of St John's spire, the original showed the details and the replacement didn't.

The question is, could you possibly upload your two earlier pictures at a higher resolution, so that people who check them out on Commons can see more detail? (they are fine at low res.) From an architectural point of view, they are the better pictures. Amandajm (talk) 14:17, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

The new shots are fine as photographs, but none show the details of the architecture as well for the purpose of the article. If you don't mind, I would much prefer to use the older images, in the context, despite the fact that if one looks at them on Commons, they don't do high res very well.

The Edmund Blacket article is about the work of the architect. The accompanying text reads:

"For St Mark's, Darling Point, Blacket showed the committee a design based upon an engraving of the church at Horncastle, Lincolnshire. Unlike St. Paul's, St Mark's has a high nave lit by small clerestory windows with trefoil lights above the aisles. The building work was interrupted in 1851 by the departure of men for the Australian gold rushes. The spire, which is a feature of the leafy streetscape of Darling Point Road, was chosen from 14 different versions prepared by the architect, and was paid for privately."

8 Nyora Street Killara and 3 and 5 Locksley Street Killara would be a great help. 73 Ku-ring-gai Avenue Turramurra is another one. Sardaka, I have come to you for guidance over a situation that has been ongoing on Wikipedia for a while now.

It is related mostly to the user Bidgee. I became a Wikipedia member a while ago, and was banned for uploading copyright images. Most of which I believed were "fair use" and did not intend to cause any breach of copyright status. I did not understand Wikipedia's copyright laws, therefore for most of the time had no idea why the images were reverted/deleted.

However, I recently learned the rules, and ever since have been uploading images under the CC-BY-SA 2.0 status from Flickr, and none of my edits are ever vandalism or disruptive.

However, Bidgee seems to think he is entitled to be the "boss" of EVERY SINGLE Australian-related article. My images, all of which illustrate the article in the best ability (they are all of high quality) are CONSISTENTLY reverted by Bidgee. He recently blocked me from using Wikipedia and undoes all my attempts to add images.

I hate it and believe it to be unfair because he seems to have some kind of persuasion or manipulation over other editors, likes to "stalk" a lot of articles in case his edits are reverted or something is changed. I personally believe I should not be blocked. I will not, nor have I ever really made any disruptive edits, and have learned my lesson with copyright images as previously stated.

Bidgee seems to operate with a "if it's not broke, don't fix it" mentality, which is frustrating for me, because often I come across Australian related articles with awful, dated images of poor quality, and when I try to replace them, he undoes it almost immediately.

I found you on one of Bidgee's talk pages, I was looking to see if anyone else had problems with the user. I did engage in sock puppetry, however my incorrect behaviour has ceased and I have not made edits to Wikipedia and do not plan to for the next few months as I am blocked, and would like to make amends and just take a break. Eventually I will make an unblock request as I have no interest in behaving the way I did prior to my block - although I was entirely unaware of Wiki's copyright policy which is why I was uploading so many copyrighted photos. I am now completely aware of the Creative Commons rule. I never engaged in vandalism. Hi, never denied 101.103.195.74 was me, nor did I deny Ashton29 was the account I operated under. A lot of my edits were considered disruptive because other people wanted different things, particularly Bidgee. For example, I would add a more recent image, or add further information in text, but it would be reverted because some editors on Australian related articles can be very rigid and go with the "if it's not broke don't fix it" mentality". I also explained that I was blocked for uploading copyright images, however at the time most of them I did not know were copyright and did not understand the Wikipedia copyright status. It was never vandalism but rather a clash of views. The owner of the building depicted in File:(1)Berowra in Lavender Bay.jpg was surprised to see this photo in Commons. (OTRS ticket:2016060210012291 ) I am not a lawyer and especially not conversant with the laws of Australia, but I believe in the United States, you are permitted to take a photograph of a private home if you are standing on public ground. If those of the facts and that is the law in Australia at the you are on solid ground. That said, I note that the image is not used in any article. New Challenge for Oceania and Australia

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Hi, please see WP:YouTube. I reverted the edits because I'm not convinced they met our guidelines. I'm sure they were in good faith, and you are an experienced enough user to judge whether I've got it wrong. You are doubtless also aware that many editors add YouTube links to pretty well anything they see, regardless of copyright or whatever, and there is a bot which is tasked with removing such links along with Facebook, Twitter... AFAIK, the only acceptable use of any social media is when YouTube is used as reference (not an EL) and even then it must be clear that is not a copywrite violation and it is contributing real facts rather than just acting as an illustration. In 15 years, I've used Youtube as a ref just once, where an organisation had produced a video about one of their nature reserves which had facts I couldn't find in more obviously RS sources. This was disappointing to see, coming from such an established editor like yourself. We are here to build an encyclopedia, not to endlessly rehash culture war debates, not to right great wrongs, and not to validate your self-conception of being censored by a Wokeist Cabal.

Using an individual's preferred gender pronouns is an established practice both among reliable sources, and on English Wikipedia, per the guideline MOS:GENDERID. The opinions of individual editors about the acceptability of singular they, or the validity of non-binary identity, are beneath consideration. Wikipedia has a duty of care toward WP:BLP subjects, and there exists a decade-spanning RfC-level community consensus that this includes gendering subjects according to their self-identification.
