If you are taking requests (2024)
[edit]February 2024
[edit]Reminder that BOZ flagged Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse as a potential article in the fall & I should circle back to that! Sariel Xilo (talk) 18:40, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- Sounds good. ;) I'm not sure if Indestructoboy is a topic you would want to work on, but I just added a bunch to it. BOZ (talk) 19:29, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
March 2024
[edit]Don't know if this one would interest you, but I started Luke Crane (game designer) today. BOZ (talk) 17:55, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
How are you with working on Starfinder/Pathfinder releases? Do you have anything that would help get Draft:Starfinder Pact Worlds into better shape? BOZ (talk) 19:28, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
April 2024
[edit]I'm not sure if I asked about these before, but do you see anything that can help improve Draft:Red Wizard or Draft:Harpers (Forgotten Realms)? BOZ (talk) 22:54, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- I built up the Red Wizard draft a bit and moved it back to article space, but for now the Harpers draft is getting there but still needs more sourcing I think. BOZ (talk) 16:31, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Would Draft:Coyote and Crow be worthy of your time and effort? I saw someone posting about it and found the idea fascinating at least. BOZ (talk) 19:58, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
Help with Tom Taylor (writer)
[edit]Hi, I noticed your work on various comic related articles and think you do amazing work. The Krakoan Age article is especially incredible. I was wondering if you would be able to help expand and better organize the comic book writer Tom Taylor's article, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Taylor_(writer)? I noticed the biography of his career is badly arranged and not in chronological order nor updated with his recent projects. Overall it is not as updated or detailed as other comic book creators with his similar level of status. You seem to have experience with working on articles of comic book creators, I thought I would alert you to this one that needs help. 71.163.19.164 (talk) 04:45, 18 July 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for participating in the sourcing drive! :) I was always thinking of adding more gaming-related articles to the requests portion if people worked through many of the items I added, but you don't have to wait for me if you're looking for more to tackle. :) You can look under the sections titled "Unsourced passages need footnotes {{citation needed}}" on the cleanup listings for any WikiProject, specifically of course these three: [1][2][3] :) BOZ (talk) 06:53, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks! I've been doing a lot releated to the actual play ecosystem lately so it was a nice way to get out of that without having to spend too much time on any one article (so much of the cleanup in the ttrpg space requires a lot of research & rewriting). Sariel Xilo (talk) 22:01, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- In case you happen to run out of other topics to work on with this drive, I went through the above lists and pulled out a portion of the articles there. I don't know that I will add any more articles to that drive since people aren't pulling off the request list too often anymore. I did not list very many bio articles, and very few BLP articles, but I figure that is an area which can always use some attention and better sourcing, so here is the list I came up with.
- I figure anything you add to these not only improves articles badly in need of it, but also helps out with their notability. :) BOZ (talk) 20:38, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- I've fallen down the X-Men comics rabbit hole; I'm surprised that so many of these haven't been through AfD since many rely on primary sources and have no critical commentary/reception sections. Sariel Xilo (talk) 21:42, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
- Your efforts are appreciated wherever they go. :) BOZ (talk) 22:23, 18 June 2024 (UTC)

@BOZ: I think Draft:2023 Origins Award winners is ready to go as soon as a secondary source also announces the winners. Feel free to update & publish if you spot a source before me! Sariel Xilo (talk) 19:15, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- Will take a look soon and see what I can find. :) BOZ (talk) 03:07, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- Nothing yet, I guess they were just announced today? I'll have to check back tomorrow. BOZ (talk) 03:26, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- I'm still not seeing anything yet. That's odd, is no one reporting on it yet or am I just missing it? BOZ (talk) 05:54, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
- I guess ICv2 was just waiting until Monday? Sariel Xilo (talk) 19:29, 24 June 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Excellent work on rehabilitating Half-elf (Dungeons & Dragons). Do you have the sources to bring back the article on halflings? I can put it in draft space it you think it's worth working on. BOZ (talk) 23:25, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- I did a quick poke on google scholar & a few of the databases the Wiki Library has access too, but I didn't really find anything. A couple had passing mentions of halflings mostly in the context of quoted text from sourcebooks & weren't the focus of the discussion. With the half-elf, it mostly popped up as part of larger papers on race in D&D. I'll keep an eye out though & let you know if I find anything! Sariel Xilo (talk) 02:04, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- Sweet, it would be nice to get that one back. :) Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Halfling (Dungeons & Dragons) does mention a few sources, so we can always use that as a starting point. BOZ (talk) 02:06, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- How about anything for the late lamented article for the Assassin (Dungeons & Dragons) class? [4] You made a good effort to save it at AFD five years ago, but before you did that a bunch of delete and redirect votes came on and it honestly did not end as it should have. BOZ (talk) 07:14, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hey there, if you have sources for any of these abandoned drafts on recent RPGs, I can get them restored:
- Draft:The Outer - hard science fiction game in development as of 2021
- Draft:The Koryo Hall of Adventures - 2021 campaign setting based on Korean culture [5]
- Draft:Sacredfire Games - Dutch RPG company founded late 2022
- Draft:Demon Dog - 2023 role-playing game by Nightfall Games

Miscellaneous Messages
[edit]Born Again
[edit]Hello Sariel, thank you for your contributions to the Daredevil: Born Again article and discussion. I am a bit concerned with this editor in particular for their behavior with this article, as this is the third time they have engaged in repeatedly restoring their preferred edits and accused me of "ownership" and "personal attacks" (which there's is starting to seem to be more akin to) and other acts for upholding the status quo against their mass and repeated changes to word use, which I admittedly didn't think would be much of an issue, though here we are. I already cautioned them of their behavior having a potential personal bias directed towards me and my editing, so I just wanted to make you aware of that as I am weighing my options with how to proceed with this. Thank you again for your work. Trailblazer101 (talk) 17:57, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the ping! I've minimally interacted with the Born Again article (mostly copying content to other articles such as Deborah Ann Woll) but I put it on my watchlist mostly because of that editor's tenor in the talk discussions (you followed the correct process in addressing vandalism including requesting page protection & they accused you of edit warring). Their sarcastic response to me seems to be on the border of uncivil but at a quick glance, this doesn't appear to be common in their behavior on other talk pages so no idea what's going on. While the MCU articles tend to be more rigid than others because of consensus developed within the MCU project (which can be somewhat opaque to unfamiliar editors), I don't think you edit in such a way that's ownership & you're fairly clear in your edit summaries about your actions (cite policies when reverting, etc). Hopefully everyone assumes good faith moving forward! Sariel Xilo (talk) 18:28, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reassurance and your perspective! It means a lot to get a fresh take on this all. Trailblazer101 (talk) 19:26, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- This isn't really directed at any single editor but I think the only area of improvement really needed is within the MCU project itself. A much clearer manual of style which cites local consensuses would be incredibly useful; it would be awesome if the project had a table like the one here which shows how consensus has developed. For example, the MCU project has a really strong style preference on citations and when I was working on some of the Ms. Marvel related articles in 2022, editors were annoyed that I wasn't adhering to that. Some editors would say it was local consensus but didn't link to specific discussions (it was mostly, "look at the other articles"). I believe at the time I suggested to some editors that it should be noted on the project page but there's still no guidance on the preferred citation style under the project's section on sources. For the most part, I've limited editing MCU articles because even as an experienced editor I've had trouble figuring out the local consensus. Just food for thought! Sariel Xilo (talk) 20:20, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- That is something worth looking into, so I'll see about bringing it up to the taskforce to better articulate the local consensuses we've developed over time for unfamiliar editors. Trailblazer101 (talk) 21:57, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

Careful
[edit]It's important to distinguish between "censured" and "censored", especially in this sort of context. I'd have fixed it myself but I'm not comfortable with editing someone else's posts here. DS (talk) 21:21, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- Dyslexia strikes again (reading a sentence on people being censured for censorship probably led to the flip)! While I try to catch typos & fix them before anyone responds, typos happen. Since editors have already responded to my comment, I followed the steps outlined at WP:TALK#REVISE due to your message here. However, I don't particularly think it was necessary especially as the editors who responded seemed to understand the context even with a minor typo. Sariel Xilo (talk) 21:44, 20 March 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hey, just wanted to say I'm sad to see that your FLC didn't pass. If you ever nominate it again or take it to FAC, don't hesitate to drop me a ping and I'll happily support it again. Best of luck! TheDoctorWho (talk) 02:59, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
- @TheDoctorWho: Thanks! It's a long article so I think that's why it has struggled with getting reviews. I'll definitely circle back to you when I renominate in a few months; not sure how long to wait when it wasn't declined for content reasons. Sariel Xilo (talk) 03:05, 12 April 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. Is WlKlCZECH11 associated with Rsparkles? It seems awfully strange and seems like WP:SOCK, especially considering they replied on behalf of Rsparkles when their name was not mentioned. It also gave the illusion of support and they posted as an uninvolved commentator. Wiiformii (talk) 02:26, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- My assumption is that it is a sock (possibly also the same person as the IP editor) given their explanations are nearly identical. It would be great if you could flag that at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:Rsparkles reported by User:Sariel Xilo (Result: ) and/or make a report at WP:SPI. I need to sign off for a bit but I can probably circle back to this later tonight or tomorrow. Sariel Xilo (talk) 02:43, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
Avoided redirects
[edit]PopVerse and Popverse can't both be avoided double redirects to each other. One of them is a miscapitalization. If I've got it backwards, please fix that. Dicklyon (talk) 15:41, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

Wizards of the Coast
[edit]Hello, Sariel Xilo. This is a courtesy notice that the copy edit you requested for Wizards of the Coast at the Guild of Copy Editors requests page is now complete. All feedback welcome! Cheers, Baffle☿gab 04:22, 10 March 2024 (UTC) |
- Hi Sariel Xilo, I've moved a little text to the article's talk page because it isn't directly relevant there. I'd earlier removed another short passage but found that text is directly relevant so I've note that on the talk. Regarding shortening the history section, I think the content there is relevant to the company, though separating business dealings from publications might be possible; if the section becomes too large, you might consider summarizing and splitting it off to its own article. Also, the lede could be expanded to more-fully summarize the article's content. These suggestions, however, are beyond the scope of the copy-editor. Good luck with the article and cheers, Baffle☿gab 04:22, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
The file File:Critical Role Bells Hells, 2022 campaign poster.jpg has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the file should explain why.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

definitionally incorrect
[edit]your explanation https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Multiverse_%28Magic%3A_The_Gathering%29&diff=1244706024&oldid=1244697585 is definitionally incorrect. the MTG worlds are NOT " independently contribute works " in the way that comic book stories are handed to artists to "do your thing". MTG worlds and stories are ALL created specifically and internally by WOTC following specific mandates. 67.220.13.43 (talk) 20:27, 8 September 2024 (UTC)
- By the definition & franchise examples outlined at the shared universe article, the MTG multiverse falls under that. Nothing about "shared universe" implies total creative freedom from the publisher/owner of the IP. Sariel Xilo (talk) 20:38, 8 September 2024 (UTC)
wrt CritRole stuff
[edit]Bit of an aside, but it's suddenly occurred to me to ask out of curiosity: since you're really active about tending to and maintaining the CritRole articles here and there must be a lot of Stuff that you don't get to cover here because of all the fancruft reasons (lots of personal experience with that), have you considered contributing to the Encyclopedia Exandria at Miraheze? It forked off from Fandom back in 2022. ~Cheers, TenTonParasol 17:06, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- I've participated a bit at the Fandom wiki (mostly adding in things like interview details that don't really fit here) but I don't like doing plot summaries which is a lot of the more fan focused wikis (also why I haven't tackled finishing the episodes summaries at C1 & C3...). Why was there a fork from Fandom? Do you edit at Encyclopedia Exandria? Sariel Xilo (talk) 17:28, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- Ahah, makes a lot of sense. For real, plot is honestly really hard and tedious. I do edit at the Encyclopedia Exandria. I also do less plot stuff (unless it's really easy) and handle more template maintenance, organizational things, and—similarly—production and behind the scenes. (I guess it's why we're both here too, all that real-world grounding and production factors we're interested in.) Fork was motivated by a number of things, including disagreements over priorities and management at the time (I have no clue what the atmosphere at the Fandom wiki is like these days because of the fork, you might even have a better sense than I, maybe things have changed), but among the most significant was further up the chain with Fandom-typical things that are pretty well alluded to at Fandom (website) § Wiki departures.
- I ought to take a look at the C3 plot summaries and see if I can get any of them in, but admittedly I barely know what's going on in the campaign despite watching it every week. Maybe I ought to take a look at some of the other non-Exandria CritRole-related stuff. Midst could do with a proper plot summary, not just a premise, after all, and I follow that corner of things rather closely. ~Cheers, TenTonParasol 22:19, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- Tackling any plot summaries would be super helpful! I haven't watched either Midst or Candela; I occsionally clean-up the plot summaries on C3 (the few new editors are getting better about being under 200 words) but you're right that the whole thing is rather tedious which is why I avoid it so much 🤣 (I find comic issues even worse!). I'm not very involved at the Fandom wiki so I don't have a sense of the small town politics so to speak. I built most of the Downfall article at Fandom because I wanted those production details to go somewhere but felt it would be way too much for the C3 article (yet not enough for a standalone article here); also just updated the Netherdeep article because I felt like module structure was useful but without a bunch of secondary sources wouldn't fit here. If you want to port those changes over to Encyclopedia Exandria, that might be a useful expansion (the Netherdeep article at EE includes the dead links to various Wizard of the Coast pages as Wizards wipes all their D&D stuff in favor of pushing people to D&D Beyond). Sariel Xilo (talk) 22:35, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- Oh, I can totally pull some of those edits across the external wikis. I gotta do it carefully because of attribution and copying between wikis since I wasn't the one who made the edit—you know the deal, I've seen you do the WP:COPYWITHIN disclaimer in edit summaries lmao, it's the same thing. Obviously, individuals are free to make the same edit simultaneously at both—or, including here, all three—without worrying about that if they're the sole contributor (typical COPYWITHIN stuff). But, genuinely, you'd be welcome to make those kinds of edits at EE in addition to Fandom, though I also imagine making the same edit twice in two places is a pain. Still, it'd be welcome if you're interested in that. There's no, like, loyalty or exclusivity thing.
- Ugh, though, haven't even noticed that WotC redirected a lot of stuff over to the DDB website. That's so annoying! A lot of websites are doing that nowadays, I noticed a version of it with the Rooster Teeth stuff redirecting to a splash page about their closure when I was trying to get historical information about Tales from the Stinky Dragon for EE. I should pull a bit some of that information into the Rooster Teeth article and maybe for Beacon, to help contextualize why it's on Beacon now. I quite liked Midst (and Moonward) and Candela! So, maybe I am the right person for the job for some concise plot summaries there lmao. I'll add the C3 article to my watchlist (wild that it wasn't there already) and help keep an eye on it. ~Cheers, TenTonParasol 02:33, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
