Award yourself a comfort cookie ;) Re. "Anyway, no need to hurt myself further by letting this RM run longer." - no one there is being personal I think, it's just that dab policy has recently been tightened, your RM goes in the wrong direction to a recent series. We do not have primary cricketer, primary singer, primary song, primary film etc. In ictu oculi (talk) 10:59, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with In ictu oculi. Not too long ago, Psycho (film) and Independence Day (film) were moved to Psycho (1960 film) and Independence Day (1996 film), applying the rationales you saw at the RM discussion for The Avengers. (There was also a RM discussion at Titanic (1997 film) to remove the release year, but that did not take place.) We cannot look at disambiguation terms as part of determining primary topics because the terms are a Wikipedia characteristic. So we look at "The Avengers", "Psycho", and "Independence Day" to see if any of these terms have a primary topic. Beyond that, all non-primary topics are disambiguated from each other.
