Hello Shelly, welcome aboard! I'm not really online enough to help on a regular basis but you can get more regular help from users frequenting the Welcoming commitee. One can build up good/interesting relationships on Wikipedia but it is focused around editing material and not really well suited for social networking. I hope you enjoy your explorations around the place and most users will try to help out if you need it. I'd suggest thinking about a subject area you're particularly interested in and finding a WikiProject that covers this subject - they usually have pretty good guidance on how they edit. Have fun!
