I am very saddened to learn of Anna Lou's passing. Are there still plans for her autobiography to be published?MisterCSharp (talk) 17:26, 1 March 2012 (UTC)
Well, yes, thank you. I think we have all been saddened but greatly touched as well. Living long debilitated by a stroke was probably not the way that she wanted to go on, so it is a relief in some way, I think. Yes, there is still desire to publish her autobiography. I am redoing my proposal to for submission to presses at this time.Singing Coyote (talk) 02:23, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
I'll add that her family hired somebody to write a biography about her. I at first out of sympathy following her death allowed them to use material from her autobiography which they have a copy of on her computer. Later, as I thought about the amount of work she had done and I was still doing, I felt like I had betrayed her because, due to the circumstances of her experience, she had always vigorously and militantly protected her "speaking for herself." Oh well, I can only presume that they mean well. I've found it is easy in one's enthusiasm not to hear people's wishes, so I'm in no position to be overly critical. Anyway, I am currently working on an afterward according to her deathbed request to write a final chapter. It is an editor's afterward because she left no notes so I don't want to put words into her mouth, but I think that is able to disclose a unique way that she did anthropology.
