Deletion of Emirates International Endurance Village article

[edit]

Hi !

I was assigned to put up an article regarding the Emirates International Endurance Village, which is an endurance venue in Abu Dhabi. I am pretty new to creating wikipedia articles, as I am used to writing regular articles.

Can you please tell me why it was deleted, and what I can do to rectify it and have it published ?

It is a non profit organization, and we help countries around the world with funding and race organizations. you can look when you google it that a location and a few articles are uploaded.

Can you assist me ?

Thank you Malakmzk (talk) 08:39, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!
The article read like an advert, and that is prohibited on Wikipedia (see this section about not promoting on Wikipedia). If I could see that it was just needed a bit of minor editing so the tone of the piece had a more neutral point of view, I would happily restore it so it could be worked on. However, as the piece is entirely written as an advert, so I won't restore it.
Before you consider rewriting it, I would strongly recommend you do not, as you have a connection with the subject. I would recommend reading Wikipedia's stance on conflict of interest.
If, after you have read these policies, you still believe you can write the article in a neutral manner without advertising it (remembering that others are also free to edit it and, if there are ever any controversies, these will get added), then you are free to appeal my decision at Deletion Review. Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

Want original article back to work on!

[edit]

Hi @Sjb72 Thank you for having a clear profile description for next steps. My first article was deleted - "Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Garen Armstrong"

I have re-wrote this article! Not sure how to proceed. Thank you so much.

If you have rewritten it so it has a neutral tone and doesn't read like you're promoting him, then by all means, post the new draft page. I would also double check he meets the notability requirements too, otherwise the article will not be allowed to move into mainspace. Stephen! Coming... 12:40, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Sjb72. If you don't mind me asking, what's the proper way to post the new draft page? I previously attempted, and it was deleted for duplicate Talk page of a nonexistent or deleted page.
Thank you!

The notification you're describing is for deletion of a talk page when there is no main page associated with it. Looking the logs, you posted it on Draft talk:Garen Armstrong, when it needed to go onto Draft:Garen Armstrong. Stephen! Coming... 13:21, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@sjb72 Thanks for clarifying. I’ve updated the draft by adding the required information directly onto Draft:Garen Armstrong instead of Draft talk:Garen Armstrong. The submission now focuses on presenting a neutral, fact-based summary of Armstrong’s career, advocacy, and health journey, with citations from independent sources to support notability. Please let me know if any further adjustments are needed.

@Sjb72 - Should I submit the draft for review to proceed? Justinmorris9343 (talk) 17:52, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As it stands, it will be rejected as not meeting the notability requirements. You will need to demonstrate why he is notable, and provide proof from reliable third party sources. Yes, you have provided references, but neither press releases nor court documents can be used to demonstrate notability.
Have a read of the General Notability Guidelines and the notability requirements for people. If you cannot demonstrate that he meets these requirements, the article will never pass. Have a read of what counts as a Reliable Source.
Until that point, I would recommend keeping this as a draft article. Stephen! Coming... 12:41, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
