On the "Software design pattern" entry

[edit]

Hi, I noted you reverted the recent edits for the "Software design pattern" entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_design_pattern

It claims that the text was copypasted from CourseHero. However, that is not true – instead, it was CourseHero which had copypasted from an older version of the Wikipedia article (this can be easily verified by browsing entries prior to 2024). So the removal of the edit was an error of judgment on your part.

I decided to restore parts of the older Wikipedia version because it was technically more accurate concerning what "software design patterns" were. I have also further polished it, and included citation of a reputable computer science textbook to further strengthen the article's validity (so the newly edited article was not a verbatim copy of anything from CourseHero).

The entry which was restored (which emerged unilaterally in April 2024, overturning years of contributions to the article) is not technically correct, and is not consonant with how "software design patterns" are commonly discussed in computer science communities. You can verify this yourself by perusing the cited resource by Alexandrescu or any book on software design patterns.

I hope to have your understanding on this matter.
