Hi.

I make periodic contributions to Wikipedia. My primary interests include Surrealism and experimental writing.

Suggestion

[edit]

I have seen your site, and on occasion I have supported your links; and others have deleted them. It becomes a subjective decision and clearly people disagree. My suggestion to you is to start a new article. Surrealism is primarily an historical article, that is always watched because of endless vandalism and people adding themselves and their Aunt Jane and Uncle Harry who made a surrealist painting, movie, sculpture, poem, last Friday.

Start a new article with a new name, add references, with distinct and notable subjects...Modernist (talk) 14:49, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, there is currently no individual article on Surrealist theater (or Surrealist theatre depending on what side of the Atlantic you're on). That would certainly be a welcome contribution, and not one that would be too difficult for you, as it seems to be your specialty. As to why this happens, yes, surrealism is often targeted for WP:LINKSPAM and vandalism, because vandals think its particularly hilarious to add something surreal to Surrealism. I think you're probably a victim of your "periodic editing" and low edit count. If editors see that someone has only a handful of edits and is primarily linking a site, they tend to suspect a WP:Conflict of interest with that site. I think that starting Surrealist theater would be a good way help legitimize yourself in the eyes of more experienced editors and provide natural place for that external link to go. Just click one of those redlinks to get started, and let one of us know if you need help with that article. Good luck, Lithoderm 20:02, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've replied on my talk page. Additionally, here are two templates you might find helpful. Just don't be overwhelmed; all the other editors I've given these templates to seem to get frightened off by excessive formatting info... Lithoderm 05:21, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing may look daunting, but it's easy enough to do. Here's a guide to getting started. References are important to validate your writing and inform the reader. Any editor can remove unreferenced material, and unsubstantiated articles may end up getting deleted, so when you add something to an article, it's advisable to also include a reference to say from where it came. If you need any assistance, let me know.

Keep in mind that once you have successfully created an article like Surrealist theatre links between articles are relatively common through See also sections, good luck...Modernist (talk) 12:19, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
